I could have persevered to 100% this one because it is short. I just could not see anything though. Yeah, I get that that is part of this game's uniqueness--what is trying to set it apart from others, but I draw the line at repeated deaths that cause me to restart only to attempt the sh*t-show all the way from the beginning. Its free, but in my opinion, not worth it.

Only recommending since it is free with achievements. The platforming and puzzle elements are mediocre, with visuals that remind me of flash games. You can get all the secrets and such in about an hour.
"Darkless" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a simple and very short platformer with just a handful of levels. The bizarre idea is that you control some anthropomorphic furniture and fight the X-Men. Yes, that's not a typo, the developers are wilfully and deliberately infringing the Disney/Marvel trademark "X-Men". Just the name, you won't have to fight Cyclops and Jean Grey here, but still... you can't take other people's stuff. I can't make a game about Superman and The Hulk, two roommates in New Jersey who run a hot dog stand. Anyway this is a short and pointless platformer that offers nothing of tremendous or notable interest. It's clunky, amateurish and somewhat poorly designed. At least it's not pixelcrap? Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
Was enjoying the game but a certain level started to lag too much and i had to stop. Fun game though but can't recommend it due to the game having a fatal error that hindered my experience and made my stop (no lowering resolution and graphical settings). There was no option to lower the resolution which occurred to me that is the problem was, Waited a few days for the devs to fix it but guess they are too busy at the moment. If they add an option to lower the resolution, will come back to finish the game and maybe write a in depth review on what i thought about the game.
