Everyone wears social masks. Even those of us who strive to be genuine at all times tend to wear masks that are variations of ourselves depending on the situation. This story is about a college student who suddenly starts seeing literal masks on people around them, and by dating three of those people, their masks slowly start to crack and break as they show more of their true selves. Info • 3 dateable characters: a man, a woman, and an enby. • Player can date all 3 characters at once, so no additional playthroughs needed. • Gameplay involves increasing trust levels by picking correct dialogue options, then going on dates. Praises • Enby representation. • Excellent racial diversity. • Interesting, stylish art. • Criticisms of parents being too controlling over their children. • Criticisms of bullying and school systems failing to protect children. • Mental health awareness in general. • Demonstrates the symbolism of people wearing social masks. Complaints • Not queer enough. I played it for Pride Month, but alas, it wasn’t really queer-themed. Make it queerer! (Joking, joking.) It’s a free game made by college students for a class project? I think. That seems to be the indication in the credits anyway. I personally loved Jodie’s route. I relate so hard to her character. Bitter and distrusting of people because of how awful people were in the past. Yep, that’s me too. I was bullied from 2nd grade in elementary school until senior year of high school. The last year, some sh*t happened and I had to be moved to an alternative school because the school system just refused to do anything about the constant bullying and harassment I went through. Adults failing to provide an adequate environment for learning. Adults failing to provide a safe environment. Jodie’s story is pretty much the same, only she mainly talks about elementary school. Her ending scene made me want to just hug her. :’( I recommend this interesting dating visual novel to those who are fans of the genre.

After reaching all the endings, including the secret ending, I feel like I'm qualified to give a review, haha . The characters aren't difficult to grasp, after a few conversations with them you start to understand how they act and I appreciate the distinctiveness and complexity of each of them. The game has a sweet and soft art style, funny how it contrasts the actual story where a lot of it is about each characters' struggle and true feelings. I like it, especially the gallery pictures, I like the colors. Also, I like sharks very much, thank you for including the shark scene. I enjoyed it very much (please draw more sharks). The colors used are bright and flowing, I like every aspect of the backgrounds and how much time the entire story's panels must've taken to plan out and execute. The writing of the story is nice and simple to follow, there's not much you need to know prior to playing this game. Even if you forget, I like the addition of the 'History' tab under the speech box. It helps my poor memory get caught up so I think that's a neat function. The characters are fully fleshed out by the end of the story and you do get to crack their masks. Though sometimes the writing does get very deep into sensitive territory, and whilst it could just be me as a player, I find myself taking a step back from the game at that time, or skipping over the text completely. However, the writing quickly bounces it back to the original light-hearted feel of the base game. There are some minor mistakes during some interactions with the characters, but overall I'm sure it's nothing more than some re-spelling and an update. The music of the game is done well, each character having a distinct theme to them during your dates. I'm not one to have my volume on during games ( a crime, i know ), but I do have it on for this one because I truly wanted to immerse myself into the atmosphere, and was pleasantly surprised by the sounds and music playing in the background. The gameplay itself is very simple, click and choose. It's nice to be able to take your time and choose answers you want to, though it also takes some strategy to get on their good side. Example, you need to be patient with Arjun on your first encounter, or you'll be very excited with Billie, or say a snarky remark to Jodie. You'll need to pick the correct choices to get their good endings, but for the most part you can get along with them without much effort. The mechanics of time and character hangout preference is also fun since it makes it different from other games. You need to plan your time with each character if you want to be able to be able to reach their endings quickly. It's a short game indeed, but the comforting feeling you get as they give you something that was important to them is a good reward, for me at least. Overall this game is a pleasant experience, albeit a short one. This is a good casual game to span over a few days, you get to tinker with options as much as you want and truly get yourself to know the characters. Dating simulators aren't my type of game, but it was good that I got to sit down and play this one. I truly hope the developers release another game together, it would be a very nice thing to look forward to. If you need a play tester, you can come to me, haha. Also, that ending was very very funny. Now my family think I'm into some weird sh*t. I hope to see your work again on my library someday.
When the time to shut the curtains and to cast your mask aside comes close, will there be anything left?

Empath route or lone wolf path?
New college, new routine. It is totally up to you deciding whom to interact with and what choices to take within this relaxing Dating Sim experience. A vast amount of choices will be featured starting from decision on whether to wake up on time, to end up with whom to possibly date after repetitive interactions. Easy-going enough, right? But you have to remember that to enter someone’s heart, you must unveil their inner ghosts…
A mystical sense spurring into heart-to-heart talks with necessitous:
It is during your first lecture that something unique does catch your attention – you cannot really see the faces of your surroundings, in fact this bizarre experience will show you different masks merged with your acquaintances’ looks. Soon enough you will have to choose on how to approach this issue and whether to interact in a friendly manner with newly met classmates. In case of doubt, there will always be someone to turn to in order to understand better the game mechanics.
Pushing towards the date spot:
This game will offer us a neat, eye-catching map that will serve to orientate oneself not only among the Curtain Call’s world building, but also coming to which characters would we find at certain places. This way, after deciding whom to get closer with we can strive straight for their little route! During each interaction, the player does gain experience points, which will also be based on the responses you will be choosing during dialogues. After reaching a determined threshold, it will be possible to go on a date with the picked personage. The in-game interactions are heavily entertaining, also thanks to the well-depicted character traits and personalities. Each of them is well defined and distinct, as well as relatable coming to real-life outcomes. In order to bond with one of the dateable characters, you will have to destroy their mask and uncover what lies behind.
Personal considerations:
While the portrayal of LGBTQ+ content within media does tend to over-cross the border of real-life relations, in this game it was not as heavy. While it sure is noticeable how certain outfits might match determined stereotypes – for example coming to non-binary folks – on social media, I did enjoy how the whole was portrayed in this game. The personalities were mainly sharpened out by character expressivity, merged with their identity, unlike pride flags featured everywhere and perhaps, repeated lines coming to what they feel to be (which personally I do find can deafen heavily what the story is based on, which is a big “no” to me in such cases). Surely I would not compare it to typical Japanese Visual Novels, still, I would not even lump it within the mass of LGBTQ+ OELVNs that do tend to be quite shallow coming to the plot. Personally adore how the CG art-style was also matched to each personage. As in, on each branching based on whom we would approach the art style would change and it would totally show off the aura of the personage, as well as, ambience from the portrayed scene at hand. The idea of having to break the masks in order to reveal true identities and empathize with them is as endearing as at the same time heavy. There is a reason in fact we tend to keep our mask on, when it comes to weaknesses or topics we tend to ignore. Remarkable game mechanics and concept, I do personally approve of the whole.
Featurings:
A choice-based Dating Sim offering the possibility to end with one of the three presented characters. The relatable and pretty much realistic story at hand is accompanied by heavily soothing BGM and typewriter sounds during visualization of the in-game text within the textbox – comparable to writing down the screenplay. The sounds in question are satisfying and relaxing to the player experiencing the whole. This game does offer a mix of smallest details that are unique and wholesome. A particular art style is featured, quite fitting the game’s theme. The character sprites do resemble American Comic Book pages, while the featured CGs do offer respectively delicate, or even aggressive at times strokes resembling classic paintings. The character sprite poses are quite lively. Not only there are many presented poses, but also their expressivity is outstanding. The whole is very colourful and pleasing to the eyes, inducing curiosity towards the story even. The presented story itself is realistic and soothing in its own way. To intensify the immersion, the game does offer the name input feature. Occasional entertaining puns and recalls to known brands are featured in this title.
Few negative points and bugs are:

The dialogue box cannot be hidden, a tad uncomfortable in case of willing to take screenshots;
Arjun’s route does present an error presenting cursive font during dialogues and his name being displayed during narrative parts – the opposite compared of how the game is arranged so far;
The story might not be as interesting to discover during the second playthrough as the places and story pattern is pretty much the same, even though the outcome will concern different characters and respective difficulties. A little guide or eventual in-game helpful tips would be appreciated, as personally I did reach 3 endings out of 5 and had to reach out to the Developers directly to request some tips for playthrough completion. The route of Jodie and her personage resulted a tad forced to me, in particular coming to the speech she used and “modern” teenage-like used terms. Came out as pretty stiff and perhaps didn’t click properly within the route itself – that is what I feel.
Overall:
The ending did offer a quality and heavily soothing atmospheric background music, it felt same as having experienced a good movie with a positive outcome. Similar to having a weight being lifted from your chest. Heavily recommended, amazing Visual Novel experience – be wary you may be willing to play one route only. This game/VN is terrible in technical standpoint - It has wrong labels, like whatever character says appears like commentary, what should be narration can be labelled as character's words. You cannot save at all times, only certain points. You cannot press Space or Enter to progress, you cannot make choices with arrows. You have to use mouse for all. Even then, your choice might get stuck. There are also too many meaningless options. Or why do I have to select and click only one option? That's dragging needlessly time. While concept is fine, I got used to some standards when it comes to VN games and this one does not meet them making it chore to play. Characters are not interesting enough. It's all about their vision of problems. Also, there is bug, when talking with person with mask, they can appear without mask, if you had to choose person from the location, because at that day they shared it. And there are typos.
A very interesting visual short story with “living” characters and interesting dialogues, it is also full of elections in the dialogs affecting the plot. In general, I liked it, but add the possibility of saving at any time, as well as an automatic pass of the previously read text.
This fascinating hand-drawn game is actually quite unusual. The plot of this eccentric visual novel immerses the player in the difficult drinking of human nature, characters, lies and manipulation. Will you be able to figure out the falsity of the surrounding characters, or will you allow yourself to be manipulated?
"Perde Çağrısı", inanılmaz derecede derin kişiliklerle anlamlı bağlantılar kurarak sosyal maskeleri (kelimenin tam anlamıyla) kırmayı konu alan görsel bir romandır. İster yeni arkadaşlar edinmek ister daha fazlasını istiyor olun, sizinle tanışmak için can atan bir sürü karakter var!
