"Cursed House 3" is an atypical match-3 game with minigames as bonus. It runs flawlessly and it will stimulate your brain! A very tricky match-3 with power-ups and unique ways to solve the puzzles. You get to banish the evil creatures and through the use of an ancient amulet that you slowly power up, to restore the house to its former glory! The game contains a variety of minigames such as Spot the Difference, Hidden Objects and Solitaire. The levels themselves are hard but leave an impression and above all they are fun. So you will be glad it wasn't a piece of cake that required no thinking and ended in 10 minutes. The visual effects, animations and music will help a lot in keeping you calm and focused on the task at hand. If you are stuck, you can use the hint system, which I find very good, comprehensive and helpful. On top of that, they have added a beautifully crafted grimoire as help. It will keep you busy for hours but without overstaying its welcome and you can always replay it due to its nature. One of the most fun and intriguing match-3 puzzle games out there. This is the first Cursed House game which adopted the format seen in most of the series with puzzle-M3 levels and minigames every 3 or so levels. There are 85 M3-puzzle levels, and many of the gadgets seen in later games were introduced here, along with the detailed help book in the top left corner. The graphics are a little cruder, and sometimes there are 2 different playing tiles which are tragically too close in color tone to each other. But I did like that some of the tiles have animations. While a lot of the widgets longtime Cursed House fans know are present, the puzzles lack the sophistication seen in later releases. There is only one powerup, and you must create at least 3 powerup tiles with larger matches before matching the powerup tiles to blow things up. A good part of the strategy with many levels is blowing things up in just the right places, so this powerup mechanic is as much frustration as it is different. The bugs crawl around silently here, but I can still hear the raspy noise they make in later games in my head. ;) The first few levels have a lot of "nannying" with pop-up help hints showing up. The minigames are HOS, solitaire, and spot the difference scenes. There are a few extra HOS as compared to subsequent games. Pretty nice looking "cursed house" scene which is slowly being un-cursed by the Amulet as you're going along, with subtle animations. If you look closely, you can see some eerie figures in the windows, which I'm guessing are some of the demons. I'm glad they took out the wolf howls in later games though.

This is a solid and challenging Match 3 puzzle game with power-ups and nicely crafted levels. I would say this is the most challenging of the Cursed House games so far.
It is pretty much a basic Match3 game that lacks originality. Where other Match3 games often have powerups to help you out, this game doesn't. Every level is literally just matching items of the same type. It then doesn't matter if you match 4, 5, 6 or more of the same type, you will always get the same silly lightning icon. This icon will cause an explosion when matched with 2 other lightning icons which is practically the only realy "powerup" in the game. The problem is, those seperate lightning icons often end up in places where they get in the way of your progress, making it take even longer than it already does to complete a level. Combine that with lackluster graphics, outdated sounds, extremely depressing and repetitive music, and you will understand why I cannot recommend this game. Even for a Match3 game it is frankly boring. The three or so minigames also don't make it any better. It is either a "spot the difference" minigame, a hidden object minigame (with some incredibly stupidly placed items that you can legit only find with a hint) or a simple patience-like card minigame. All of them are boring and feel like a drag to have to go through just like the rest of the game. There is also no story and no other game mode aside from the default mode the game offers. Just a boring loop of starting a game, matching next to coins to collect them and sometimes using simple repetitive puzzle elements to complete a level. There are also NO Steam Achievements removing even more challenges. Oh, and before I forget. The game also spams you with a full screen pop-up message asking you if you want to play more of the studios' games. Yeah, sure! I'm sure everyone would love to try more of the same boring match3 games from you.. If you want a relaxing or cozy game, look somewhere else. If you want a decent Match3 game... well.. also look somewhere else. There are way better alternatives out there!
A welcome change from the other Cursed House games (and now I've played all 15). There's only one type of power-up, where 3 (or more) of them in a row trigger an explosion. The levels are fairly simple; as always, there are a few simple mini-games, but you can skip them if you want. If the game is on sale (€3-4), it's recommended; otherwise, stay away.
