Reviews
This is one of those titles I had high hopes for when it released in 2018. I played 20 minutes, shook my head, read the other reviews and completely forgot about it. Flash forward to 2023, I was looking for an indie horror to break up some of the bigger games I've been playing, and Crying Is Not Enough strangely popped back into my head. Let's be honest - there's jank. The English translation isn't great, and the game runs with a strange judder on my PC. I'm hitting 60FPS at 4K / max settings easily, but the camera pans in a less-than-smooth way. No tweaks to frame-rate or V-Sync settings seem to fix this. It's not a game breaker, but you'll notice it. What surprised me the most, though, is how much there is to love here. The environments are detailed, the music is fantastic. Exploration feels great. The combat works. It's not life changing, but it does the job. And the enemy tracking is surprisingly impressive. The story is half decent. The enemy designs are unique and varied, and the boss battles were memorable. Yes, there's obvious inspiration drawn from Resident Evil and The Evil Within, but the game also has a distinct atmosphere of it's own. 10 hours in, I've been genuinely surprised by how much I'm enjoying this. After its initial release in 2018, the developer spent a year addressing pretty much every major gripe reviewers threw at the game. There's new cutscenes, graphical enhancements, a whole new map system, as well as a laundry list of bug fixes and tweaks. If you read through the older negative reviews, nearly all of these issues have now been fixed. I was lucky to have bought Crying Is Not Enough back in 2018, as it seems to have been de-listed sometime after it was upgraded to the 'Remastered' version in 2019. I'm not sure why it's no longer for sale, and this is obviously the developer's choice. But I think it's a bit of a shame. If you can look past the obvious rough edges, there's a lot to love here, and it's clear that the developer poured their heart into trying to bring this game up to a state which matched their original vision. And I think they succeeded admirably. In 2023, this is a great little indie horror which deserves another chance.

İndie oyunların kısa olması ilgimi çeker. Bir çırpıda bitirip, oyun açlığımı biraz olsun yatıştırmak adına tercih ederim. Crying is not Enough açlık bastırabilecek bir oyun değilmiş. Grafiklerin hakkını vermem lazım. Atmosfer yerli yerinde.
+I tahle hra jednou skončí.
This game has really good things, and some not so good things. The environment graphics are good. I mean really good. The setting is good, it's creepy, and it works. Now the character graphics unfortunately are not so good. And the scenarios are so cool, that the creatures stick out, as they're not on the same level. The overall feeling of the game is nice. You have weapons, but ammo is scarce. You can fight, but it's best to run and conserve your ammo. Secrets, journals about experiences gone wrong, the evil corporation, it's all there. My problem is with some design decisions that make you constantly backtrack from one place to the other. And I mean really backtrack, you have to cover a large area to get one object to use in another place. And don't think about doing things in a different order, or you'll probably die or things won't work. For example, there's a part where you have to fight a boss with a flamer. If you have the shotgun, you can take him down easily. If you don't, it's hell. So if you get there without the shotgun, you have to run to another area to grab the shotgun so that you can fight him. Even so, I enjoyed the game. It's obviously an Indie game, but it has that Resident Evil vibe. And you can see that it was made with passion. Impressive work for two (?) guys.
