"Cooktopia" is a really mediocre restaurant job simulator (it makes Fast Food Simulator look like a masterpiece) where you do minitasks to assemble hamburgers. Did the developer not know games like Cook, Serve, Delicious already exist before making this? If not, wow, I really wish amateur developers would take a look around before burning $100 on Steam Direct. If they did, however, why on earth would anyone set out to make a ripoff of someone else's game, only worse in every respect? The mind boggles. Yet here we are. Reviewing more failed shovelware on Steam. What do you do in the game? It's very limited compared to other restaurant games... you just have a couple of steps in making basic hamburgers. It's presented badly, zero polish, and thoroughly un-fun to play. While I couldn't find this on the mobile app stores, everything about it looks and feels like it's a mobile app designed for mobile phones... for PC gaming enthusiasts, it's not going to give you a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
