About
The house is under attack by Dust Demons and it is up to you with your laser-equipped Dust Cluster Buster 5000 to destroy the invasion.
Sail around the room shooting ever-spawning Dust Demons but watch out because the longer you last, the faster they come! Periodic shipments of heavy laser shots will help you blast groups at a time and furniture can be knocked around by your shots to make blockades and divert the approaching cluster! Every time you are hit, you lose charge so top off at one of the three charging pads in the room.
The objective is to play until you die. Try again to beat your high-score!
In February of 2018, I gave myself the challenge of making a game in one month. The purpose was to control scope and work through the process from beginning to end with that short of deadline looming.
I taught myself Unreal Engine and Blueprint, modeled every object, wrote the Blueprint from scratch, set up the Steamworks SDK and implemented achievements. I even did foley for some sound effects. I set a price of $0.99 so I could also understand the process of taking pay through Steam.
It was essentially a game jam style challenge that I succeeded in and it has sit here ever since. Its scope was small so it is very simple. Shoot enemies, they increase in number until you are overwhelmed. See how far you can get. The controls are optimized for twin-stick shooting with a controller though keyboard play is possible. I never implemented mouse-leading so aiming with the keyboard is less than elegant.
Regardless, I'm closing this chapter by making this game free-to-play as in its lifetime it has not earned more than $500 in total sales over eight years. That is okay because I felt it was at least a dollar's worth of fun and now anyone can enjoy it without the obligation!
I am still proud of Cluster Dust and I hope that you, even for a moment, find enjoyment in playing it. It works very well on the Steam Deck too!
Thank you and enjoy!

Neat little casual shooter right there. I'm usually off the smaller, indie casual games, as most look like (or are) cashgrabs, with visibly little effort put into them... However this little gem here not only looks super slick for its category, but actually plays nice... and provides fun! Could use a bit of variance after you get many points, and aiming could use some tweaking, but overall pretty fine for day 1. I'll edit this review if there are any major updates.
The gameplay is lovely. Just the right balance of accessibility and challenge. The story moved me to tears. Simply exquisite. Also, this game helped me reconnect with my estranged father. Bravo Vince.
Good game if you need to need to kill time.
Extremely simple and get's boring quickly but it's only a dollar and it's pretty well made so.
This is an ultra simple twin stick top-down survival shooter where you control a laser equipped Roomba and waves of green, yellow and red dust bunnies swarm towards you. See how long you can survive, because the developer didn't bother doing level design or anything creative like that. We've come a long way since Space Invaders where it used to be okay for difficulty to just keep increasing in the hope the player runs out of quarters for the arcade machine. This looks and feels like an asset flip but it seems they genuinely did make a "game" that's so simple and underdeveloped it's indistinguishable from a demo. Also, there's no mouse support, controls are fixed, so you have to use WASD and the arrow keys to move and aim. Did they develop this on a PC without a mouse? This barely qualifies as a game, so thumbs down.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says "Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to." The developer boasts they didn't bother with a proper development cycle and tried to make the game in a month instead of taking the proper amount of time to create a video game. This is, I guess, a lot like going to a surgeon for a open heart surgery, waking up with a missing leg instead, and having the surgeon boast that he decided to see what he could do in half an hour. Would you recommend this surgeon to your friends? Nope. The developers own admission that they deliberately didn't bother making the product decent or take care, time and attention to develop a proper game here reinforces my stance, I cannot recommend this game to anyone. Does it count as incompetence if the developer failed deliberately? Steam is not here for developers to inflict deliberately flawed products on.
