THE CRUST IS REAAAAAL
"Clash for Crust" is a rather poor and unsuccessful party brawler me-too game where players use console peasant kids toys (because there is no proper online mode) to beat each other up with the objective of feeding their gulls a pizza crust. The entire premise pins on the developers assumption that seagulls are flightless birds. Seagulls are not flightless birds. That is a beautiful example for everything else that's wrong with this, too. Not to put too fine a point on it, but just about everyone using Steam has an internet connection. It seems the developers didn't know about this so they went for local multiplayer, becuase I guess they couldn't tell the difference between a gaming PC (at a desk, for a single user) and a console peasant console appliance. That's an important distinction though... because making and publishing a game on the wrong platform is a direct cause of failure here. Heck, this might have done well on the Nintendo Playstation. But here we are on PC, looking for PC games. The developer of this game couldn't figure out how to add proper online networking, so they expect players to all drive to one house and sit next to each other in the same room. Using Steam "Remote Play Together" is just a band-aid for that huge technical failure here. Not having online matchmaking for a game that requires other players is a sign of incompetence and it makes this valueless... no wonder it failed. On the important subject of visuals, this features fairly low quality stylised/cartoony low poly 3D graphics. It comes across as the kind of thing you see on mobile phones and Nintendo games, which will deter a lot of PC gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and to be considered one of the best games on Steam, the graphics have to be some of the best on Steam. That's not happening here. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. You cannot play this without a console peasant children's toy. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? I can't recommend this. It may not be the worst thing on Steam but it's far from the best, and PC gamers have far better options for spending their time.
