So ive played this game a lot at this point. Ive gotten to the last steps, ive done what the players call a World Tour outside of the new Civs that were added, and ive been an active part of the in-game chat community helping new players for about three months. This is a semi-idle resource management game that has if i remember correctly has 72 total resources to go through. It has an active in-game chat made of long time players and new players asking for help. New players inevitably have many questions in this game. How it works is you pick a "civ" that each have a playstyle, bonuses, special buildings, and even different map sizes. Unless you buy the supporter pack you get 4 civs to choose through and a "premium" freebie that changes each week. When you make a building it uses or makes workers that create science. Science is used to progress through "ages" that give you more resources and a few bonuses. You gather "great people" shards in each run to very slowly increase your permanent games between runs called rebirths. You can also trade with other players. You repeat this ad nauseam for as long as you can stand. Thats the game play loop. If you like number go up games like i do its honestly very enjoyable. So why the Dont Recommend? I have a few reasons. First, when you start the game you have a trade limit that lasts 48 hours. Not 48 real hours. 48 in-game hours. The limit is on the amount of things you can trade not a value so new players that have nothing of value cant even trade for useless starter things in amounts that would actually help them. Most players suggest just leaving the game running for 48 hours to get passed this. Thats so stupid. Imagine if any other game flat out expected you to play 48 hours before you could use its multiplayer effectively. Second, the tariffs. There is a way to get ridiculous amounts of value even as a new player though. To trade at all you need to unlock a building that lets you pick a "tile" on a in-game world map. You get more tiles as you rank up which is done by playing for 100s to 1000s of hours. You can set your tile(s) to have a tariff in a percent between 0 and 10%. Not a bad concept. How it works in reality is there are a few spots that players in the know sit on for weeks to months OR one of the chinese alt farms sets up walls of 10% tariffs that essentially block trades from large parts of the map or make things so expensive there is no way for anyone else to profit. Which brings me to... Three, the alts. Have the in-game trade spots are taken up by chinese alt accounts. If you say that to the developer or the mods they will tell you to get over it and that there are no rules against it. I bet there arent any rules against it because EVERY single alt has paid for a supporter pack. I know the game is free to play but thats just scummy. Four, the mods. There are seven different language chats. I usually went through the english and german ones but anyone from any language can @ you. My problem is there was no mod for the chinese chat. You go there and they are calling all the other players stupid and other insults constantly and nothing is done about because there is no chinese mod. If you tell one of the other mods to do something about them theyll mute a chinese player who promptly jumps onto an alt and insults the mod as soon as they are gone. Tell a mod "you know they laugh at you because you dont do anything more than us who cant" and they take it personally. Fifth, the in-game loop itself. Its really grindy and then suddenly its not. If you actually get to the later stages of this game everything blends together. Every civ feels the exact same. You also need the premium version to do the "world tour" properly that allows you to get to the later parts of the game in hours and not days or weeks. Did i mention it takes days or weeks to get to the end? By end i just mean last unlockable there is no real end except once everything is so expensive you cant go on anymore. When you restart you start from 0 which means each run is only a little faster than the last. Sixth, its not really an idle game. You at max can get 4 hours of offline progression. I highly recommend not doing that because it can takes between 5-30 minutes for the game to boot if you do. Another aspect of this game is called "warp" and you get it while youre offline. You have a fairly limited amount of max warp you can collect and until you get a certain building unlocked you can only play at 2x speed. Once you have the building you can play at 16x speed which the game specifically tells you not to do because it makes a lot of peoples systems crash. Buildings at first dont take long but then it takes minutes and then you see it takes a hour for an upgrade. Then you keep playing and you get to upgrades that take hours to days. Remember you only can get 4 hours offline progression at a time. Most people that play this game and are a high rank never turn it off. One premium civ gives warp while playing. Seven, the game is not intuitive. There are guides written by someone so into numbers you can tell they dont understand that not everyone can be as into numbers as them. Its not straight forward in anyway. If you ask for help youre either going to get paragraphs on spreadsheets and meta progression that is far from any new players understanding or get told to read the guides depending on the time of day. This game is definitely not for everyone. Its barely for people that think spread sheets are fun. The only thing i really enjoyed was trading and helping new players which the old players specifically would tell me was stupid because they dont like to help new players because it ruins their perfect number generator simulator. I told a mod he was biased towards the chinese and got perma-muted when i wasnt even online. I had to go to a discord and ask someone to confirm if they could see my messages in chat because there was no indication besides a feeling of paranoia that for some reason people arent responding when you thank them for trades or say hello. I almost liked this game but its run by petty tyrants and a developer that likes money more than his game being fair. An update: Im just gonna blast the mod Devonin for a minute. Out of all of what i said and do you know what I hate the most. You abuse your position of authority worse than a stereotypical reddit mod. Everyone i talk to privately in the discords hates you and thinks youre a tool. No one really understands what Fishpond sees in you besides being the worst type of self righteous narcissist that happens to spend every waking minute you have playing this game and making sure others know youre important. There are so many bad stories i got to hear when i brought this up on discord revolving specifically you its crazy. The man bans people for leaving negative reviews, he bans people for disagreeing with him, he bans people for telling him to leave you alone. Ya know, things people with no life and a god complex do, When you do read this i hope this post is the highest rated on the board because you managed to get someone with hundreds of hours to want to spit all the tea. You wouldnt think a game like this has chat drama. Happens all the time here.

This game should have a horizontal thumb. If you like idle games to be endless, with infinite re-births for tiny increments, and if you like it to be very complex, then this game is for you. If you wanna relax and unwind and if you love the feeling of "beating" it then I can not recommend it. There is also a feature that when you want to promote from offline player to online player then you lose everything. You begin from scratch again, which is sold as "security meassure" 👎 Jumping off the waggon was the right decision for me.
Idle game with multiplayer trading. Interesting at the beginning, but multiplayer aspect is poorly managed. Late game experience is not recommended. Drawbacks: - Flood of alt accounts to zone off map areas. Raised several times, but "it's a feature." (Some players have 5-7 accounts.) - In-game chat rules applied unevenly. Accounts may be muted without notice, and no indication of end date. Chinese chat is lightly moderated because the in-game mod doesn't read chinese.
Great Game but look at that kitty, whoever pass by can pet it and give it a thumbs up. Have a nice day :3 /> フ | _ _ l /` ミ_xノ / | / ヽ ノ │ | | | / ̄| | | | | ( ̄ヽ__ヽ_)__)
I can understand the appeal of the game, but this just isn't my cup of tea. To start, the UI just looks terrible in my opinion. The game is going for that old windows aesthetic, and I thought it fell short. The building, upgrades, tech, etc. felt a bit clustered. Gameplay also felt artificially lengthened from the time that I played it. For example, it seemed like only one of the resources could route to a project being built. Some of the heavier ones end up taking forever to build, even early on in the game. Although the game definitely offers a lot of depth, this just felt mechanically boring to play.

Tutorial, menus, visuals, mechanics ... are pretty unintuitive/awful in my personal opinion.
This title is certainly an interesting take on the incremental-progression model, to be sure. Disclaimer: I do not particularly enjoy incremental progression games... most of the time What I *do* enjoy, however, are games with interesting ideas and reasonably original ways to make those ideas come to life. Like most incrementals, it's a 'Numbers go up' kind of game that appeals greatly to those who already enjoy the genre, but with a unique enough stamp to make it an interesting and daresay enjoyable experience. It's been around for so long and noteworthy enough that there are blatant copycats out there - if that tells you anything. *Most* (though not all) people don't get their game copycat'ed unless its something worth copycat'ing. I have followed/periodically played this idle game for several years through the beta and through its 1.0 launch. This is a solo dev/Indie title that has taken the feedback of its players seriously, while also being clear about their vision and not letting themselves be guided 'off the rails' of whatever that vision is by a lot of the 'noise' of folks trying to turn the game into something it's not intended to be. Always a hard needle to thread for any development team from indie to AAA. Pros:

An indie dev that actually pays attention to legitimate feedback
Free-to-play with optional DLC to support the devs team/server costs
Simple graphics that belie a relatively complex system of gameplay
Multiplayer chat that is helpful to players for the early/mid game
[Optional] Multiplayer resource trading that is helpful for those at the end-game
Definitely scratches that incremental progression game itch for many players
Cons

An indie dev that has a vision for the game and is willing to accept input/feedback - but if you're not on-board with the vision as set-out, you may disappointed when "that one thing you want changed" (whatever it may be) not get changed while also seeing many other things get improved/fixed... .not sure it's a "negative" per se, but it does come up from feedback of players wanting larger changes that simply aren't going to happen since they fall outside the scope of the vision originally set by the dev.
Free-to-play is front and center - but it's hard to deny that some of the best QoL perks are locked behind a paywall... even if that paywall is only a $5 one-time purchase. The dev is very transparent about what/why the paywall exists - it's *not* a gateway into endless microtransactions, so fear not. If you want to support the Dev or this title, its the easiest/quickest way via one-time purchase.
Simple graphics that belie a relatively complex system of gameplay
Multiplayer chat that is helpful to players... until it's not. Since the mods are volunteers (not on 24/7), it almost inevitably leads to rando trolls (who get their jollies by trying to 'shock jocks' and 'plain speaking truth', aka @$$holes... because its the internet and there's no consequences) taking too long being banned for blatant and intentional violations of chat rules, who are then allowed to reviewbomb the game whining about 'free speech' and 'abusive moderators'... because they were smacked down for obvious trolling.
[Optional] Multiplayer resource trading that is helpful for those at the end-game... but tends to favor those who've been camping the came for years now. (But if if you don't care about the multiplayer aspect, and prefer to do solo, then it 99% doesn't affect your own enjoyment of the game)
Definitely scratches that incremental progression game itch - but the 'Idle' part of the title can be a bit misleading. Like many 'Idle' games, this one also falls into the trap of requiring a significant investment of active play early on in order to reach the 'idle' portion of gameplay later. Not necessarily a 'bad' thing, since the gameplay itself is enjoyable, but it is a legitimate complaint for some and worth making a note of.
So, yes, this genre is not always my cup of tea - but I have come back to this game time and time again over the years as its grown through beta and now 1.0 with a different flavor of gameplay that some will definitely enjoy! If incremental progression/idle is your jam, then I would check out this title for its unique twist on the genre. :sphere:
CivIdle is a fair idle and incremental game with enough room for active play. It strikes a great balance between “think strategically” and “sit back and chill.” At its core, it’s basically a spreadsheet simulator, which means you can lean into math, logistics and optimization if you want—or you can take things slowly without ever feeling punished. Progression is straightforward and intuitive. The social systems add a lot of value. There are a global chat and a player‑driven trading economy, so you’re almost always collaborating with others. Veteran players often share advice that can completely reshape how you structure your production chains and their insights are genuinely helpful. The game is still actively updated, and with new civilizations being added, it’s likely you’ll see fresh content while you reach the endgame in the future. There are shortcomings, though. Unlocking certain features requires leaving the game running offline for more than two days, which can feel excessive. The UI also needs refinement—there’s a lot of clicking, not much guidance and the lack of tutorials makes early navigation unintuitive. Managing your empire’s happiness is another challenge. Citizens’ moods swing easily and constructing new buildings lowers happiness. If it drops below zero, your available workers decrease; at –50 happiness, your entire empire grinds to a halt. Yet building is essential for progression. Research can boost happiness, but each topic is a one‑time bonus, so you can’t rely on repeating them. Maintaining balance requires careful planning and thoughtful pacing. Overall, despite its flaws, the game offers a rewarding mix of strategy, collaboration and idle progression. I think it’s worth playing.
Too slow for me. Doesn't respect player's time, the timers are annoying.
