(update) It actually reminded me of Hiromi Uehara's Kung-Fu World Champion— that same jagged, kinetic jazz-piano "martial" energy transposed into a game context. 10/10 This is one of those rare works that genuinely surprises you—an experience that feels equal parts art and philosophy. If you map the game’s identity onto the logic of combat sports, the four opening stages and the four successive playthroughs (NG→NG+ cycles) can be read almost like this progression: Tai Chi → Sumo → Boxing → Fencing. Even across these shifts, you constantly feel the dialectic at play—offense and defense swapping places; advance and retreat; fast and slow; gain and loss; victory and defeat. On top of that, the sound design, score, color palette, art direction, and interaction all come together with a polish and flow that pull you straight into the world. Beyond all that, the game hides an even more fascinating layer inside its tutorial and mechanics. At first, you think you've beaten the four opening stages — but really, you were only learning the basic moves, traits, and philosophies behind different martial arts. That's the journey from practice to understanding. Then comes the next four playthroughs — which flip the script: now it's about going from understanding back to practice, and then to deeper understanding. For instance, in your first NG+ cycle, you can take the Tai Chi you mastered and fight against enemies based on Tai Chi, Sumo, Boxing, and Fencing — experiencing firsthand how these martial philosophies clash and complement each other. It's perfect.
