Love! The Cinemaware brand and a handful of its games, 'Defender of the Crown', 'The King of Chicago', 'It Came from the Desert' and (especially) 'Wings', have monolithic standing on the landscape of my formative gaming years. I also recall enjoying 'ABC Wide World of Sports Boxing', the non-Cinemaware release of 'TV Sports Boxing'. After brief forays into 'Antheads' and 'The King of Chicago', it was plain that some of the games haven't aged particularly well - what was once breath-taking now seems clunky and lacking depth - and this collection may well not be suited to the poor souls who didn't have the privilege of experiencing its contents first time around. For this gaming veteran however, such negatives are ameliorated by warm, rushing nostalgia and pleasure is largely undiminished. Mostly though, I've been playing 'Wings' - one of my favourite games not only of the Amiga but ever. Though dated graphically its rich atmosphere and stonking playability are fully intact; I became immersed immediately and three hours passed like minutes. 'Wings' is worth the £7.99 on its own! The only real gripe is the disappointing lack of 'The Three Stooges', a Cinemaware game that I have fine memories of on the Amiga. It's absent without explanation from Wikipedia's list of games whose rights Starbreeze acquired when they bought Cinemaware - licensing issues maybe? If you enjoyed these games back in their day, they're worth getting again. If not, perhaps consider 'Wings! Remastered Edition' instead.

UPDATE 3 March 2023: Lords of the Rising Sun crashed on me during a castle siege (archer scene) on Proton 7.0-6. Since this game is a bit old, I wonder if it would run in a Win 10 VM from GNU\Linux KVM host. Regardless, there is really no reason this Amiga games couldn't be safely ported to Universal Amiga Emulator (UAE) for GNU\Linux instead of UAE for Win 10. Then we wouldn't need the silly Wine wrapper. Even though I am licensed through this anthology pack, I hesitate to run a hacked copy of Lords of the Rising Sun through UAE. I wonder if there is some way to legally run this copy on UAE and bypass Steam. Steam should port this think to Steam OS do that ethical dilemma no longer exists. UPDATE 2 March 2023: I just checked and these games seem to run reasonably well in Proton 7.0-6. I believe the Proton version of Wine is endorsed by Steam so I think all is well if you want to play these games without booting up your slow/sluggish Windoze 10+ partition. I haven't done full "testing" though. OLD POST Prior to 2 March 2023: The games seem to run well in MS Windows, but I can't figure out why this doesn't legally work on GNU\Linux. IIRC CloanTo offers a licensed Amiga emulator that will run practically any Amiga game so why can't I run these games on Amiga OS or buy them for the new Amiga Mini? Also, I'm not thrilled about selling body parts for money or putting microchips in my brain, but why hasn't Interplay's Neuromancer been legally ported over to Steam? I no longer own a physical copy of the Amiga Neuromancer, but Neuromancer is now sadly real. I used to think this was cool when I was a child, but now that it's actually happened it scares the daylights out of me. Regardless of ethics, that game was super cool and I was never able to finish it. The game kept crashing every-time I went in to collect a paycheck after I illegally put my avatar on the payroll of some company.,, Maybe I should just read the book.

I played these games on the original hardware and operating system DOS and Windows 3.11 for Workgroups when i was a kid. I loved these games. I had a lot of fun playing these games . I do recommend reading the manuals to the games.:heart:

Sono affezionato alla Cinemaware perchè mi ricorda quando passavo ore a giocare sul mio primo computer, l'Amiga 500, che a fine anni '80 era davvero rivoluzionario grazie ai suoi coprocessori dedicati per la grafica ed il suono.
