Chronicles of Mystery - The Legend of the Sacred Treasure

Without a doubt, this is a HOG. An remarkably mediocre one at that. There are better looking ones from even smaller companies for free so I'm not quite sure who their target audience is for this one. The HO scenes were just a cobble of stockphoto and 3D items repeated throughout each location. They really tested patience on the concept of "hidden", as if they actually didn't want you to find it. The items are labeled quite poorly, which I imagine someone who is ESL would struggle discerning objects. I also echo the sentiment of having multiple props of the same 'word' but only one is correct. A very strange choice if you ask me. But hey, is it a broken game? No. Can you finish it? Yes. Would you buy this with money? ...A resounding no unless it cost less than a handful of pennies. A rightful disappointment after multiple entertaining point and click games of the same title. Why would they put this on Steam?

+ The music was great. + The story was very interesting, it kept mystery until the end, it ended very simplistic, but I somehow wasn't disappointed by the ending. + You can collect hidden coins and use them to skip puzzles. - The hidden object minigames makes you collect lots of stuff you don't need. It extends the playtime I guess, but it does not connect to story or anything at all. - There are very few puzzles. Some were great, some were abysmal, tape puzzle was painful, it did not even made sense. There was one puzzle I didn't get and just pressed random buttons until it solved itself, but the last puzzle... The last puzzle was so stupid, I couldn't figure it out so I used coins to solve it and the dumb solution mindblown me, it was such a stupid puzzle, also the whole idea of that puzzle was stupid protagonist should've done anything else instead. - Whole story and conversations are in text exept for the cutscenes, I wish that conversations had voice acting. 7/10

HOW TO GET RID OF THE HIDDEN OBJECT BUG(HOG) a) For dual graphic card users, Nvidia or AMD -Right click Desktop and click "Nividia Control Panel" -Click on "Manage 3D setting" - Click "Add" and select the Right "MystLauncher" assuming you have all games installed. -On "selected the preferred graphics processor for this program" change it to "High performance NVIDIA processor" -Click on "Apply" button AMD users might have to do the same. b) For Intel Users: Follow this guide. Double click "MystSetupVideo" and click "Okay". CHEATS c) Cheating hidden object timer. You can cheat in this game on Hidden objects timer. 1. Simply press "Print screen" to take screenshot. 2. Go back out of the hidden object (the timer will continue where you left on if you go back in) 3. Alt-Tab, open paint and press "CRTL+P" or "Paste". 4. Once you find all the objects, just click the Hidden object area again and click everything you find. Beware some items are hidden under Newspapers, etc. d) Also another way to cheat the timer it use the "Pen Hint". Go back out and the Timer won't move and wait for the "Pen Hint" to come back. The Pen can be used infinite times. Suggest to save the coins later on. REVIEW I highly recommend you get this game with the Bundle. The first two games are like Art of Murder first three games and plays like Syberia. This game is Hidden Object, the hidden object gameplay is much easier and better than Art of Murder last two hidden object game. The next storyline or sequel to this game is "Chronicle of Mystery Secret of the Lost Kingdom". It is apparently two games split into two game, this is why I recommend purchasing the Bundle instead of the game separately.

Compared to the first one this is a lot better. Pros: Lot's more hidden object scenes. Cons: Puzzles are pretty much guessing and frustration. The Fishing game was just ridiculous. Still a very short game.

Terrible...truly terrible. I wonder what happened at City Interactive to force them to produce such garbage? Their previous two Chronicles games were clever and entertaining and I have already written reviews recommending them. This is just an abomination as the puzzles are pathetic,the story-line is infantile, the music is annoyingly mundane, and well...basically everything is wrong. I'm guessing City Interactive didn't recoup their investment after releasing the first two in the series (the second was a lengthy production) and so they rushed out this atrocity. Well,I bought it decades later after enjoying the first two, so I am guessing many other people have done the same,felt very disappointed and come to the same conclusion as me.

I think it is broken, I see arrow icon to go to another location but clicking do nothing also hint button or rather pen do nothing at all, I just did one hog scene, talk to two people and i'm stuck. On top of that there is no voice overs, game runs in low resolution and looks ugly, so yes cant recommend it to anyone.

Un jeu d'objets cachés. Facile, rapide. Si on veut passer 15-20 minutes sans se prendre la tête, ça remplit son office. Ne pas s'attendre à des miracles et à acheter en bundle ou en (grosses) soldes.

Good story, scenes, female lead character. In one spot, had to double left click to arrange tiles -- took a while to figure it out.
