Same as the others, a bad zup variant. Not the experience of the nice and smooth prefection, only the timing annoyance. The first 25 levels are super easy and just introducing the same game mechanics as in the previous parts of this series (and 1 new mechanic as far as I can tell) and the other levels just as boring but you have to repeat those 5 times before you finnaly clicked eevrywhere at the exact right time.
It's an average-to-mediocre physics puzzle where you interact with tiles in the level so the ball reaches the goal. Since there are tons of the same game and I came back to review these games after seeing them in my library again, I can't tell whether the physics in this game specifically are jank or not. However, I do remember inconsistent physics in the series in general. Also, once you've played one, you've played all of them. The game itself is probably okay, but it's not worth money. Chocolate makes you happy: Lunar New Year, developed and published by Blender Games, is a cheerful, physics-based puzzle title that takes the familiar foundations of the Chocolate makes you happy series and wraps them in a colorful Lunar New Year celebration. Designed as a casual but thoughtfully constructed experience, the game focuses on guiding sweets through compact 2D stages using gravity, momentum, and environmental tools, all while embracing a festive aesthetic inspired by lanterns, firecrackers, and celebratory motifs associated with the holiday. At its core, the gameplay remains true to the series’ established formula. Each level challenges the player to maneuver a cookie or sweet toward a chocolate bar and keep it there long enough to register success. To accomplish this, players interact with a variety of physics-driven elements such as jump pads, conveyors, teleporters, gravity switches, and accelerators. The rules are simple and consistent, but the way these tools interact creates a surprising amount of depth. Small changes in timing or angle can drastically alter outcomes, encouraging players to observe carefully and plan each move rather than rely on brute force trial and error. What distinguishes the Lunar New Year edition from other entries is how its theme subtly influences level design. Decorative elements are not merely visual flourishes; they often double as hazards or obstacles, introducing fire-based dangers or spatial constraints that must be accounted for when manipulating gravity and movement. These seasonal touches blend naturally into the puzzles, making the game feel more like a purposeful themed installment than a cosmetic reskin. Familiar mechanics take on slightly new roles when framed by festive elements, pushing players to adapt their usual strategies. The difficulty curve is gentle and well-paced, making the game approachable for newcomers while still engaging for returning players. Early levels act as informal tutorials, reintroducing mechanics one at a time and allowing players to reacquaint themselves with the game’s physics logic. As the stages progress, puzzles become denser and more demanding, often requiring precise sequencing of multiple mechanics to succeed. Mistakes are easy to understand, and restarts are quick, which helps maintain a relaxed, low-frustration flow even when solutions are not immediately obvious. Visually, the game leans into bright colors and clean shapes that make every interactive object easy to read at a glance. The Lunar New Year theme adds warmth and charm, with festive decorations giving each stage a celebratory atmosphere that complements the lighthearted tone of the gameplay. This clarity is especially important in a physics puzzle game, as players must be able to quickly identify hazards, tools, and movement paths without visual clutter. Sound design is similarly restrained, offering pleasant feedback and background music that enhances the mood without distracting from concentration. One of the strengths of Chocolate makes you happy: Lunar New Year lies in its suitability for short play sessions. Levels are compact and self-contained, making it easy to jump in, solve a handful of puzzles, and step away without losing momentum. At the same time, the consistent logic and escalating challenge encourage players to keep going, often turning brief sessions into longer runs. Steam achievements add a light layer of replay incentive for those who enjoy completion goals, though the game’s main appeal remains the satisfaction of solving its puzzles. In terms of scope, the game is intentionally modest. With a fixed set of levels and no narrative ambitions, it doesn’t aim to provide a sprawling experience. Instead, it focuses on delivering a polished, themed puzzle collection that respects the player’s time. This makes it especially appealing as a relaxing diversion rather than a demanding intellectual marathon. Players seeking deep mechanics, branching systems, or long-term progression may find it lightweight, but that simplicity is also part of its charm. Overall, Chocolate makes you happy: Lunar New Year succeeds by knowing exactly what it wants to be. It is a festive, accessible physics puzzle game that refines a proven formula with seasonal flair and solid level design. While it doesn’t reinvent the genre or the series, it delivers a consistently enjoyable experience that feels cohesive and thoughtfully assembled. For fans of casual puzzle games or players looking for a bright, satisfying challenge with a holiday twist, it offers a sweet and pleasant experience that lives up to its name. Rating: 5/10
