Just love the art style and the whole texture. Although there are several imperfections in the Chinese localization part and it has no save for the game progress (honestly this is quite frustrating), I’m very looking forward to the final product. Hope the release date is soon.
very interesting game to play. cool to see all a futuristic Singapore game! can't wait for the official release :)
well... I was quite hyped for this game and even the Day One version has a german translation! Thumbs up! I'm a story guy when it comes to p'n'c adventures. I love the graphics by Ricardo Juchem who sometimes streams while working on them. Very nice. So I started the game, was curious how it would tell its story and after minutes into the game a "memory"-mini-game came up. I'm so sorry. ALT F4, uninstall. To me that's one of the no1 immersion killers. Puzzles have to evolve out of the story and suck me in even more. Mini games like that kick me out immediately. Too bad. :( hope you're not like me :D
Before I played Chinatown Detective Agency: Day One, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
The first puzzle was so patronizing I can't imagine playing any further. You spend about five minutes talking to a librarian who is shocked that you have a question about a book (whatever happens to librarianship over the next 9 years, it's not gonna be that), but then who is on hand to spout a couple of clickthroughs of trivia about a book (no one reads books, remember) and then be bribed to solve a puzzle that might actually have been interesting to work through in-game. To get here, you either had to recognize a quote yourself or google it to get the name of its author - the simplest and least interesting part of this whole miniplot! It's like an entire game built around that one part in The DaVinci Code where the three experts sit around wondering wtf these weird scribbles are for several chapters (to give the reader time to work out on their own that it's mirror writing), but pull basically every other conclusion, no matter how much of a leap, out of their brains instantly. All the characters in this game are having more fun than me. Hard pass.
I played the demo and couldn't finish it. I stopped at the Dr. Pan part because I kept having to wait to progress the story. You solve a case, book a flight, and have to wait FOR-E-VER to board the flight. Nothing to do in between booking the flight and boarding the flight. Same thing with the scheduling for certain events for cases: you HAVE to show up between 7pm and 830pm, but what are you supposed to do for 18 hours (18 minutes irl) if you solved the case at 1am?? Am I missing something here? Is there a fast forward option somewhere I didn't see? If not, there should be. This was the only barrier for me to keep playing: no option to fast forward time if you solve a case early. The puzzles were easy, just some memory game for hacking and a little Geography guessing game. I don't think I'll play this again.
Fantastic storytelling, interesting premise, and I love the graphics. The way you've got to do research & use little clues outside the game to correctly home objects is so much fun! I can't wait to download the full game when it's ready.
In the tutorial, I am unable to lookup the text from a previous conversation, therefore I cannot find what I am supposed to search for in a terminal. No way to close the search terminal in order to look up the quote. Broken quest 10 minutes into the game. Might be fixed in the full game but I am not going to bother with this anymore. Uninstalled.
