Canterz Paranormies 2 is a template flip from Anamik Majumdar, who keeps reskinning the same lame GameMaker Studio game templates and re-releasing them on Steam with a few minor changes. The GameMaker Studio templates he keeps re-releasing are just basic retro pixel (couldn't he rip off a template with proper graphics??) 2D top down/platformer stealth/action games. Here's some other copy + pastes from Anamik of exactly the same game template: The 2D top down retro pixel stealth/darkness template:

Abandoned Croxon Mansion
Arata Haunted Asylum
Axizon Labs: Zombies
Canterz Paranormies
Canterz Paranormies 2
Charles Haunted Mansion
Gaze At Maze
Ghost In The Barn House
Gregor Hills Haunted Hospital
Haunted Jail: Alcatas
Heltons Haunted Hotel
House Number 666
Mello Haunted House
My Haunted Doll
Rescue Rina
Ryo The Haunted Office
Shelley's Haunted House
The Chills
The Haunted Exmone Theatre
The Haunted Tunnel
These are all the exact same game! These are all basically the exact same GameMaker Studio game with a different skin and a couple of things changed. The template itself is called the "2D Survival Horror Game". No professional effort was made in terms of game development, using a game construction kit requires no game development talent, and unsurprisingly produces products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. We can consider this to be asset flipping, in this case only barely more ethical just because it's the developers own assets that keep getting copy + pasted, but the end result for gamers is the same as any Russian asset flip: A fake game with extremely poor quality, no value or merit as a serious game for gamers, polluting Steam and abusing Steam Direct as a cash grab. No matter how many times this guy copy+pastes the same game, it's not suddenly going to become anything but garbage. Rehashing the same game over and over again is just a cheap nasty cash grab. While Anamik Majumdar occasionally breaks Valve guidelines for partners and attacks reviewers, any legitimacy he may have is eradicated by the way he pumps these copy+paste asset flips out and bulk sells keys to crapware bundle merchants like DailyIndieGame. It's also important to note Anamik Majumdar has denied using GameMaker Studio to make his asset flips, despite every single one being made with GameMaker Studio. It's unclear why Anamik Majumdar has been misleading about these templated cash grabs. If you decide to consider buying this game knowing it is just an asset flip copy + paste job, here's some other reasons to avoid it: There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this game has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Canterz Paranormies 2 has the comically over-optimistic price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Canterz Paranormies 2 is an indie horror exploration game developed and published by Anamik Majumdar, continuing a small series centered on paranormal investigations and haunted locations. Presented from a top-down perspective, the game places players in the role of a member of the Canterz Paranormies investigation team, a group that specializes in dealing with supernatural disturbances. The premise revolves around a homeowner who claims that something sinister followed her home from a cemetery, bringing with it strange occurrences and escalating paranormal activity. As part of the investigation team, the player is sent to examine the house, search for clues, and ultimately uncover the truth behind the haunting that now threatens the occupants. The game builds its narrative around the classic haunted-house formula that is common in many supernatural stories. Reports of unexplained noises, objects moving on their own, and sightings of dark figures create the foundation for the investigation. Rather than relying on lengthy dialogue or complex storytelling sequences, the game allows the environment itself to hint at what may have happened. Players move through the house and surrounding areas searching for evidence of paranormal activity, slowly piecing together the situation through exploration. The story is relatively simple, but it provides enough context to motivate the player’s actions and guide them through the eerie setting. Gameplay focuses primarily on exploration and survival within the haunted environment. From the top-down perspective, players navigate through rooms, hallways, and hidden corners of the house while encountering signs of supernatural presence. The design encourages careful movement and observation, as the player investigates objects and explores the layout of the building in search of clues. The house itself becomes the central stage for the experience, and much of the tension comes from not knowing what might appear next while exploring its dark and quiet spaces. Although the mechanics are straightforward, the constant sense of unease helps maintain engagement throughout the investigation. The pacing of the game is deliberately slow and methodical. Instead of intense combat or action sequences, the experience leans toward suspense and curiosity. Players gradually explore deeper into the location while unusual events begin to unfold. This approach mirrors many classic survival horror experiences where tension builds through atmosphere rather than through constant confrontation. The limited visibility and quiet environments reinforce the feeling that something unnatural may be lurking nearby, even when nothing is immediately visible. Visually, Canterz Paranormies 2 uses a simple pixel-art style that gives the game a retro indie aesthetic. The environments are built from basic textures and geometric layouts, with dim lighting used to enhance the unsettling tone of the haunted setting. The top-down viewpoint allows players to see the structure of each room clearly while still leaving enough darkness and empty space to create a sense of isolation. Although the graphics are relatively basic, the minimal design works well for the type of small-scale horror experience the game is trying to deliver. Sound design contributes significantly to the atmosphere. Subtle ambient noises echo through the house, and occasional unsettling sounds suggest the presence of paranormal forces. These audio cues help create tension as players move through the building, especially when exploring darker areas or quiet hallways. Even though the sound design remains fairly simple, the use of eerie background effects and sudden disturbances helps reinforce the haunted atmosphere that the game relies on. As with many indie horror titles from the same developer, the scope of Canterz Paranormies 2 is fairly limited. The gameplay mechanics are straightforward and the structure of the experience remains consistent throughout the investigation. Players primarily explore, observe, and react to the events happening around them. While this simplicity makes the game easy to approach, it also means the overall experience lacks deeper systems such as complex puzzles, combat mechanics, or branching narrative paths. Another aspect that may affect player perception is the relatively short runtime. The game is designed as a compact horror experience that can often be completed in a single play session. For some players, this brevity may feel like a limitation, especially compared to larger survival horror games that offer longer campaigns and more elaborate gameplay systems. On the other hand, players who enjoy short indie horror projects may appreciate the focused nature of the experience. Despite its modest scale, the game still succeeds in creating moments of suspense through its atmosphere and setting. Exploring a haunted house while listening for strange noises and investigating paranormal clues can be engaging, particularly for players who enjoy slower-paced horror games that rely on tension rather than action. The retro presentation and simple mechanics also give the game a certain charm that fits the style of small independent horror experiments. Overall, Canterz Paranormies 2 is a straightforward paranormal investigation game that offers a brief but atmospheric horror experience. Its top-down exploration, minimalistic presentation, and eerie audio design combine to create a simple haunted-house adventure that focuses on suspense and discovery. While it lacks the complexity and depth of larger horror titles, it still provides a short and unsettling journey for players who enjoy indie horror experiences built around exploration and atmosphere.
