The game presents a rather unique graphical style, combining anime-inspired characters with dark and occult themes (the creator of this game has already produced several similar titles), and all of this looks great. As for the mechanics, they are a bit clunky, and there are also issues with smoothness that I personally experienced. Despite these drawbacks, I still recommend the game for fans of the anime and dark/occult themes, as its distinctive style and elements outweigh its technical shortcomings. Pretty good and quick to beat!
Candle Daemon is an indie action RPG that embraces dark fantasy themes while presenting its story through a classic 2D side-scrolling format. Developed and published by Towndarktales, the game places players in the role of Jack, a peculiar being born from candlelight who embarks on a journey tied to ancient powers and forgotten mysteries. From the outset, the title establishes a moody atmosphere that prioritizes storytelling and exploration as much as combat, making it an appealing choice for players who appreciate narrative-driven adventures. The game's central objective revolves around collecting the nine arcana of Agnete, a task that serves as both the main gameplay hook and the driving force behind the plot. Each discovery gradually reveals more about the world and Jack's place within it, giving players a reason to continue pushing forward. Rather than overwhelming players with exposition, Candle Daemon unfolds its lore piece by piece, encouraging curiosity and rewarding those who pay attention to its details. This approach gives the experience a sense of mystery that remains consistent throughout the adventure. Visually, Candle Daemon succeeds in creating a distinct identity. Its dark environments, supernatural imagery, and stylized presentation complement the game's themes exceptionally well. The developers clearly aimed to build a world that feels eerie yet fascinating, and they largely succeed despite operating within the limitations of a smaller indie production. Jack himself stands out as an unusual protagonist, and his candle-inspired design reinforces the game's unique premise. While the visuals are not technically groundbreaking, they are memorable and serve the overall tone effectively. Gameplay combines exploration, platforming, and combat in a straightforward but enjoyable manner. Players will traverse various locations, battle enemies, and gather important artifacts while progressing through the narrative. The RPG mechanics add a welcome layer of progression, ensuring that advancement feels meaningful. Combat is accessible and easy to understand, though it does not offer the complexity found in larger action RPGs. Instead, Candle Daemon focuses on maintaining a steady pace and delivering a cohesive experience. This design choice works in its favor, as it prevents the game from becoming unnecessarily bloated. One of the more interesting aspects of Candle Daemon is its connection to the broader Towndarktales universe. The game feels like a chapter in a larger mythology, which adds additional depth for returning fans. Players familiar with the developer's previous works may appreciate the interconnected storytelling and recurring themes. However, newcomers can still enjoy the adventure as a standalone title, even if some references may carry greater significance for longtime followers of the studio's catalog. Ultimately, Candle Daemon is a focused and atmospheric indie game that understands what it wants to be. It may not reinvent the action RPG genre, but it delivers an engaging blend of dark fantasy storytelling, exploration, and accessible gameplay. Its strongest qualities lie in its world-building and commitment to its mysterious premise, while its relatively simple mechanics and modest scope keep it from reaching greater heights. Nevertheless, for players seeking a shorter adventure with a distinctive setting and an emphasis on lore, Candle Daemon offers a worthwhile journey into the shadows. Rating: 7/10
Animation sympa mais le gameplay est très mauvais
cool, waiting DLC
Great game, the art style has been improved than before. Hope we can still see Agent in Witch 4 or 5.
