since everyone here parrots youtubers instead of being knowledgeable of how cyber security works, let me educate. yes there is indeed an RCE exploit in the game, that only works while the game is running and you are connected to the internet. yes, you don't even need to be in the same lobby. no, just the action of launching the game cannot get you hacked. yes there are people exploiting the RCE. the amount that care enough to hack people on a game with 20k players every WEEK is probably under half a percent of those players. if you play a few games here and there, it is risky sure but chances are you will probably be fine. even then if you wish to remove the risk is entirely, check out https://plutonium.pw as for the price, it's not $60 anymore. $40 isn't much better for base game, but this is steam. it goes on sale for $20 all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. lets be real here, if you play on plutonium, just the campaign, or solo zombies or with friends not in public, the game is a masterpiece, and is worth the $20. the price is such a moot point but its all people talk about. overall, Activision is willfully negligent about the RCE bugs, if you can wait and get it for its sale price, it's worth every penny. do remember to grab plutonium, play in a sandbox environment such as a Linux/Proton, VM software, windows sandbox or Sandboxie, or just play solo in steam offline mode. for the average player I'd recommend solo or plutonium, and many guides exist to install plutonium and launch plutonium from steam to track playtime in plutonium. Please don't listen to fearmongering, anytime the public tells you about a "Dangerous bug" it's almost 100% of the time explained to sound worse than it actually is. stay safe out there, and remember to form your own opinions.
