Burning Boundaries Part 1

the story is interesting and realistic, relations are well done and quite funny at time. but what keep me from recommending it is the awful, blurred mess that are the AI vids. the more the story progress the worst it get with an increasing number of them, I believe a static sex scene would have been better than badly done ai vids...

Me: how many convenient angles do you want? T4bbo: yes. Burning Boundaries is an adult "visual novel" developed by T4bbo, a completely unfocused, meandering disaster that barely qualifies as a story. I'll explain why this belongs to the garbage bin of visual novels in the upcoming paragraphs. The visuals are the only saving grace of this game. Character design and environments are painstakingly detailed, and I wish the devs put the same effort in the writing. The music is generic and not always context and tone appropiate, the sex scenes lack polish, because the animations are stiff and unnatural, and, for some reason, the animated scenes are grainy and low resolution, and clashes with how detailed the still images are. Another positive element about this game is the screenshot material, because this game is full of convenient angles. Gratuituous fanservice is always welcome, so, props to the devs. Now, for the real nonsense. The gameplay doesn't make any sense, because it doesn't fit mechanically with the story. I'm supposed to make choices that affect relationship status with the three heroines of this story, which can be a negative value. Now, when some game metric is on the negatives, typically means that it affects negatively to some element of the gameplay, for example, being slower or dealing decreased damage. In this case, having a negative relationship status with a character would mean that my relationship with that character is strained or that character explicitly hates me, which isn't what happens. For a moment, it seems like it worked as intended, but, the further I progressed through the story, the more I realized that the writing and the gameplay went in completely different directions. The gameplay wants me to believe my relationship with a character is at its lowest, but the writing explicitly contradicts that point, because the characters don't act as my relationship with them is in the toilet. Honestly, this is as if the devs were developing this game while checking their phones, and it's honestly embarrassing. But wait, it gets worse. The writing is some of the worst I've ever seen on a visual novel, adult or otherwise. But the funny thing is that the writers have potential, because there are some segments that are impressively written with engaging and easy to read dialogue, without any cringe or weird expressions. Unfortunately, those segments are the exception and not the norm. Most of the story is extremely poorly written. The pacing is some of the worst I've ever seen. There is so much padding that scenes drag on and on and on, with very few things of importance happening. It took me 30+ hours just to reach the end of Part 1 without engaging with any of the girls in the story (which is the standard way I play visual novels with romance, by refusing to engage with any girl, if possible, to assess plot and worldbuilding, and then, engage with them to assess character). It takes too long and not many things happen to warrant a 30+ hour playthrough without engaging with girls. The average common route in Japanese style galge visual novels takes 12-13 hours of reading at most. Surprisingly, the tone is consistent and it's one of the few elements of the writing that the writers got right. There is this storyline with Lara and the news company, which has ample potential to tell a greater story in Part 2, but unfortunately, the only reason why this storyline is a thing is because of a plothole rooted in a character inconsistency. This is important, so I will elaborate. At the start of the story, Lara says that she needs the job as a news anchor, but she doesn't elaborate why. Later in the story, she reiterates that point, saying that her life will fall apart if she loses that job, again, without elaborating why. But, during the meeting with Eddie, she says explicitly that she has no problem bringing her talent to another studio, which means quitting that job is an option, despite her saying that she needs that job. One could argue that she was bluffing, but that fact was never established, because no one called her out for it, nor did she thought that she hopes they fall for that bluff, which makes it an option. So, if that was an option, why didn't she quit that job on the spot at the mere insinuation that Tony had ulterior motives with her? This is a contradiction, and therefore, a plothole, and I'm sure it will have further payoffs during Part 2. The characters are completely vapid and unlikable, especially Angelica. Somehow, being an adult and being in the rebellious phase are compatible with each other. She doesn't learn anything, and the game baited me thinking that she would, and the only way to make her remotely likable is to agreeing with her every whim. Compelling character writing right there. Her obvious flaws aren't treated as such and she doesn't really pay the price for her mistakes, aside from being rejected by the main character. I think the only character that I remotely like was Erica, but she doesn't get the development she needs, aside from the shallow development the writers gave to her by... changing her wardrobe and being as vapid as Angelica? Riveting, Lara is the most consistent, albeit damaged by that character inconsistency that created the plothole I mentioned earlier. The dialogue is, for the most part, shallow, full of dumb jokes, and acts mostly to show the characters' personality. Sometimes, I didn't even want to read because of how poor the dialogue and the narration is. In short, don't waste your money and time on this. The writing is a hot mess, the gameplay doesn't fit with the story and the pacing is very, very slow. I don't even care about getting the rest of the achievements in this game, because reading this is a chore, a task, not a joy. The whole point of a visual novel is reading a story, and when reading a story becomes something I have to do instead of something I want to do, it becomes a hallmark of a poorly written visual novel, and therefore, a story not worth telling. I'm sorry for being hard on this, but I expect quality on a product, not just some screenshot simulator. Is that too much to ask nowadays?

why is this game not called beta cuck boundaries? main character gets calld a perv or cheater on throughout all play throughs. a waste of money i can see why it was in a bundle.

主观评分：9/10。 1、设定。A。在黄游中占比不那么高的婚姻家庭生活的切入点，在一众伪家庭关系全家桶中还是有他的可取之处的。开局选择人物关系的时候什么姐姐妹妹哦，机灵的我看了一下人物年龄，这分明就是重组家庭的母女套餐好吗。话说回来，一般NTR游戏会更注重婚姻家庭关系的刻画，这个游戏也不例外。是的，这个游戏某种程度上也是个NTR游戏。 2、性癖：?。如上所说，这是一个NTR游戏，而且是更为少见的有换妻元素的NTR游戏（基于这一点，男主不是龟男，你知道在NTR游戏中这样的非龟男男主有多难得吗？）所以，对得上性癖的话，这一项给个S不过分；反之，如果你是纯情男大，那么这个游戏就有无数的雷点，直接评分F，可以直接跳过。 3、建模：A。调教得极好的真实质感。很多游戏把建模做得很细腻，甚至细腻到毛孔，但是呈现出来的效果不如这个游戏的建模这么真实。我想，主要的原因是这个游戏的调色很出色，画面偏冷色调冲淡了3D皮肤建模的油腻感，增加了视觉上的真实性。再一次证明，在这种游戏里，打光比建模更重要！！！各位友商要好好学习。 4、音乐：C。太令人昏昏欲睡了。 5、翻译：B。AI精翻+人工校正（存疑）。很多地方AI感比较重，读起来略显吃力。但至少不影响理解。 6、动画：B+。单就动画质量本身而言是不值得B+的，也就平均水平左右。但是加上真实感的建模，整体效果就是AV质感的动画了。 7、UI细节：C。近几年的游戏，很多都在不同人物的对话文本颜色上做了区分，能有效提升阅读体验。但是这个游戏仅仅在人物姓名上和内心活动上做了不那么明显的区分，当我的阅读速度较快时，会经常性地看串行，这是值得改进的地方。 8、人物刻画。B。不说别的，就这个老婆，太他妈让人窒息了。还好我老婆不这样。这就说明人物性格鲜明，刻画得好。其他角色倒是比较老套，不过也没出什么问题。不过我也能理解，这么塑造老婆的形象是为了给后面的开放式婚姻关系埋下伏笔。毕竟在开放式婚姻支持者眼里，开放式关系能挽救婚姻（虽然统计数据完全不支持这一点）

Edit: good game for good discount. There is a lot of content here. But it will pretty much end abruptly for you to wait for part 2... It's actually frustrating enough that I'm editing to spoil that. It is a good game. nice features, many possibilities it seems, but it ends when thing really start to get interesting. Good game, I want to see part 2, but frustrating enough that I'm tempted to say that I wouldn't recommend at all. The content you see is based on your choices. Choices do really matter, so the ntr, taboo, and the cheating is within your control. The game lets you choose how you burn the boundaries, or set them. If you make a choice you don't like you can even go back to a certain point. I'm a huge critic to adult games using 3D models and their sexual content because I hate scenes that are too stiff or repetitive. This one does it right. The animations are dynamic. There's facial expressions. AI is certainly used, but it's minor imperfections here and there. They change up the position/placement/where the camera is focused just enough times in the scene that its not like staring at a 5 minute loop. It's not exactly cinema, and it's not a mini game. Best scenes I've seen for in this style adult game though! My only cons to the game highlight what I don't like about VNs. That is, its not a simulation. You can choose to not see certain things, but you can't choose who you want to spend time with. There are like 5 main girls you get right off the bat, then your wife has 3 options, then there's just extras that are on the B team...There's so much dialogue it took 4hrs to get to kind of where I wanted to be...A lot of scenes just fill up time that could've been summarized or skipped for they had no value towards the MC, but the only thing you can do is spam the space bar. However, it does sets up for a rich environment.

26 hours in and this is better then 99% of Games of this kind. i haven't finished it yet, but after 26 hours so far I am really enjoying the complexity of the story and how the choices affect how the story develops. I must also add that the visuals are better then almost all games like this.
