Burger Shift: Team Rush: Prologue is a free cooking game where we run a busy fast food restaurant and try to keep everything under control. We can play on our own or with up to eight people in co op, and the whole idea is to keep customers happy while handling orders, cooking food and dealing with whatever problems come up during the shift. The best part is the teamwork. When we have several people working together, everyone can take care of a different part of the kitchen. One person can work the grill while another handles drinks or fries, and keeping everything organised becomes important once the orders start piling up. It can get pretty chaotic, but that is where most of the fun comes from. There are quite a few different jobs to handle in the kitchen. We have to cook burgers, use the fryer, prepare baked food, make drinks and use the coffee machine. Each station has its own little process, so there is more to do than simply picking up an order and handing it over. The random events are another good idea. Strange customers and surprise problems can interrupt a normal shift and force us to change what we are doing. We also have to keep an eye on rubbish and make sure the kitchen does not become a complete mess. These little problems make the shifts feel more active instead of just being a straight line of orders. The character customisation is a nice extra too. We can change our outfit and make our character look different, which is especially useful when several people are working in the same kitchen. The game also includes built in voice and text chat, so communication is easy when we are playing together. The biggest problem is that this is still a prologue. There is enough here to understand the main idea and have some fun, but the amount of content is clearly limited compared with what a full restaurant game could offer. We are getting a taste of the full game rather than a complete experience. Playing alone is also not quite as enjoyable for us. The kitchen becomes much more fun when there are several jobs to divide between us, while doing everything ourselves can start to feel like we are constantly running from one station to another. The basic cooking loop can also get repetitive once we have seen most of the available tasks. Overall, Burger Shift: Team Rush: Prologue is a fun little cooking game that works best when we have a group to play with. The teamwork, different kitchen stations and random problems give the shifts some good chaotic moments, but the limited prologue content and repetitive jobs stop it from being something we would rate much higher. It is a decent free introduction, and there is a solid idea underneath it. Rating: 7.6/10

I’ve only played in single-player mode. I think it would be a lot of fun to play with friends. We would be happy if the demo mode allowed at least LAN connections. There’s an issue with the size of the croissants — I baked some absolutely gigantic croissants! Customers currently come alone, but there should also be families and groups of friends. Multiple orders would make the game more challenging and fun. There should also be tables outside. The restaurant should be customizable as well. It would be great to be able to change things like the walls, flooring, and countertops, and add decorative items. It would also be nice to have some small dialogues with the customers. The cashier should have more responsibilities, such as different payment methods and other cashier-related tasks. Having to collect the money directly from the tables doesn’t feel very natural. When we order supplies, we should have to pay a shipping fee based on the quantity of the items we order. I’ve only played the “Employee” mode so far. I can’t wait to try the other modes and the full version! Please make it as challenging as possible!
