This really is the Outer Wilds of Video Games
I can see why some people complain that it's just an unfair roguelike, and I can definitely see why some people say it gets SO much deeper. I haven't finished it yet, I'm not even sure how close or far I am from finishing it. I have completed the very first objective you are given, and done so so much more since then. I promise, there are a heck of a lot more puzzles than just trying to get to the top.
The premise of Blue Prince is simple. Your Uncle has died. You will inherit his 45 room mansion and all his belongings, if you can find the 46th room of the mansion. And from that point on a game of puzzles opens up. Some obvious, some hidden, some so obscure you can play a hundred hours and never know that it exists. The game uses a roguelite playstyle: You start the game in a room with 3 closed doors. Each time you open a door you get 3 choices of rooms that you could open. Do you take the room that has resources, but is a dead end? Or the room which allows you to continue? Are there synergies with other rooms? Every new day (=run) is different. The game is for people that like to make notes -my virtuell whiteboard is gigantic. Even if you progress with your goals - it will open another mistery to uncover. And in the next run, you might just run out of luck and not achive anything. It is great fun, challeging but also can sometimes be frustrating.
Very fun puzzle game, filled to the brim with a rich and complex world filled with lore! Gameplay is great and story is amazing. Lots of help online if you get stuck, but I would absolutely recommend trying to figure it out spoiler free first. It's very hard to get stuck as there are multiple ways to figure out each puzzle, however I would recommend taking notes.
good puzzles
Puzzle of the puzzles. A world full of secrets. A rarity to find. I have strong motion sickness from first person games (like the witness and return of Obra Dinn), and therefore always skipped this game. However, I decided to give it a go. Once I started, I had some "tolerable" motion sickness for first 2 hours (addressed by moving slower and in the same direction), but after that, all went fine. I kept the default settings as is and didn't try to tweak them. I closed around 30 hours playing this game on TV screen with no issues.
