Save your friends, fight off the vampire apocalypse, and survive the horrors of freshman field hockey practice in #BLUD, a delightfully zany animated dungeon crawler that blurs the line between action RPGs and hyperkinetic 90s cartoons.

cool
the game was fun, but it felt it was missing more plot in the middle of the game to the point if i needed to view the social media post for clues. not only that the dungeon on some levels was a bit how long do i go from point a to point b without screwing up the puzzle too quickly. overall the game for my rating is 7/10 animation is top notch some gameplay mechanics do need some improvement
This game is such a blast! The combat can be a bit rough sometimes, but man did they nail the 90s cartoon network aesthetic. You can feel they had a lot of fun making this, with the ridiculous amount different animations.
#BLUD is a loud, colorful, and unapologetically chaotic action-adventure that leans heavily into cartoon absurdity and coming-of-age storytelling. Developed by Exit 73 Studios and published by Humble Games, the game blends top-down hack-and-slash combat with exaggerated animation and sharp humor, creating an experience that feels like a playable animated series. From the outset, it establishes its tone with confidence, embracing both horror tropes and teenage melodrama while never taking itself too seriously. Players step into the role of Becky Brewster, a high-school freshman whose ordinary life is abruptly upended when she learns she belongs to a long line of vampire hunters. This dual identity forms the backbone of the narrative, as Becky balances school life, friendships, and social anxiety with the growing responsibility of defending her town from increasingly bizarre supernatural threats. The story unfolds episodically, structured like a season of animated television, and it frequently pokes fun at social media culture, horror clichés, and teen drama. Quests and objectives are presented through a smartphone-style interface that doubles as a parody of modern social feeds, reinforcing the game’s contemporary humor and framing progression in a way that feels playful rather than traditional. Combat is fast, messy, and deliberately over-the-top. Becky’s primary weapon is a field hockey stick, but as the game progresses she gains access to a small arsenal of unconventional tools, including defensive gadgets and traversal aids that expand both combat options and environmental interaction. Encounters emphasize crowd control and constant movement, with enemies swarming in numbers that demand aggressive play rather than cautious positioning. Boss fights are particularly memorable, often combining spectacle with unpredictable attack patterns that lean into chaos more than precision. While the fundamentals are accessible, later encounters push players to actively use their full toolkit instead of relying on basic attacks. What truly distinguishes #BLUD is its visual presentation. The game adopts a hand-drawn, cartoon-inspired art style that evokes late-90s and early-2000s animation, with fluid motion, exaggerated expressions, and punchy visual effects. Characters are bursting with personality, and even routine actions are animated with flair, making the act of moving, attacking, or reacting feel expressive and alive. Environments are intentionally simpler in detail, which helps keep combat readable but can sometimes make exploration feel visually sparse. Even so, the overall aesthetic is striking and cohesive, giving the game a strong identity that stands out in the indie action space. Sound design and music reinforce this animated sensibility. The soundtrack leans into energetic, synth-heavy tracks that underscore the game’s frantic pace, while sound effects exaggerate every hit, explosion, and enemy reaction. Dialogue is text-based but written with confidence and comedic timing, often landing jokes through delivery rather than sheer quantity. The result is an audio-visual experience that feels tightly aligned with the game’s tone, keeping energy levels high even during quieter moments. Despite its strong personality, #BLUD is not without mechanical roughness. Combat responsiveness can occasionally feel inconsistent, particularly when dodging or managing multiple enemies on screen. Hit detection and enemy behavior sometimes create moments of frustration, especially during more demanding fights where precision becomes important. Level design outside of combat can also feel uneven, with some areas lacking the density or interactivity needed to maintain momentum during exploration segments. These issues do not overwhelm the experience, but they do prevent the game from feeling as mechanically polished as its presentation suggests. Progression systems are relatively straightforward, focusing more on narrative advancement and tool acquisition than deep character builds. This keeps the experience accessible and story-focused but may leave players looking for deeper customization wanting more complexity. Side activities and collectibles add flavor rather than mechanical depth, serving primarily to flesh out the world and its characters rather than dramatically altering gameplay. Ultimately, #BLUD succeeds most as a personality-driven action adventure that prioritizes style, humor, and narrative charm over mechanical perfection. Its strength lies in its confident embrace of cartoon chaos, delivering an experience that feels expressive, funny, and occasionally unhinged in the best way. While its combat and exploration systems show some rough edges, the game’s creativity and energy carry it forward. For players drawn to bold art direction, irreverent storytelling, and action games that value character as much as challenge, #BLUD offers a memorable and spirited ride that feels refreshingly unafraid to be weird. Rating: 8/10
To trochę taka oldskulowa Zelda z wampirami, gore, fajnym soundtrackiem i grafiką w stylu 'Laboratorium Dextera'. Bawiłem się przednio pomimo prostego systemu walki i drobnych bugów tu i tam. Gra nadrabia stylem, animowanymi przerywnikami, humorem i ogólnym czarem. Bardzo fajna rzecz i polecam z całych sił.
It a flawed game with ok combat. But, with so much potential. The visuals and style reminds of watching old cartoons. Playing this I was reminded of my time with Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures. I hope this does well and the studio can make another attempt at this.
Game is beautiful! Would fit right at home in the mid 90s Cartoon Network summer block. Wish the Music had a bit more going on thooo. Overall enjoying this nostalgic feeling adventure
I got this game around when it came out but i haven't taken the time to play it until now. It's honestly one of my fave games right now. I love the mid 90's early 2000s CN cartoon art style. Fun humor and very fun great gameplay so far. I hope we get another.
Great game with a great story and a really good art style. Combat is pretty simple, but fun. Would hope to see a second game in the future.
