This game is so evil and so hilarious. I normally would like to play something like this with my kiddos, but it would be instacry as dad laughs hysterically. EDIT: years later and my kids have grown spines, they brought out some very solid flaws in this game --- it's black, and white. So there's me and the two of them, so, do we team? It would be nice if there was a "Black, White, and Orange" Bushido. Much more, there were some things that could be fleshed out a bit beyond "death, die, death, die." Fun? Still yes. One of our go-tos (Spiderheck, Boomerang Fu, Stick Fight, Rounds, Ascention)? no. It's so close to absolute couch greatness.
It's pretty fun! Checked just now (October 2024) - offline solo/multi do work, so buying is not useless: you can play vs bots, or with people locally, or with people remotely (via steam remote play together - though I did not check it in this particular game). Online MP appears dead indeed. If you start creating a match and then leave the lobby, your own session will appear in "find match" for a while, not joinable - jfyi it's only a phantom.

EPIC!
Only negative is absence of pirates...
Game is de-listed and they never removed the DRM. On Xbox the game was forcibly removed from peoples' libraries, preventing re-downloading. Don't buy anything published by Green Man Gaming ever
Awesome!
Black & White Bushido was something I stumbled upon by chance on Steam. It was on a huge discount, and its message was basically, "We're leaving soon, enjoy us while you can.” So I grabbed it, played it, and thought, "Damn, this is actually really cool.” Five days later, the Steam page was gone. It honestly made me a bit sad, because the game is actually good. The local multiplayer is where it really shines, the online scene is basically dead, but playing it with someone next to you (or via Remote Play) is a great time. The combat is all about timing and strategy. The whole mechanic of using light and shadow to hide and strike is what makes it stand out. It’s not about who’s faster or stronger, it’s about who’s smarter, who reads the situation better and who uses the environment to their advantage. It’s a pretty unique experience in that sense. If you ever get the chance to play it locally or with a friend, it’s worth it, even if it’s become hard to find nowadays.
Fun enough with friends, get on a sale.
multiplayer is broken, some glitches but fun with 1-3 mates
