Very mixed. The game's story is good enough to warrant a playthrough, but you need to be patient because this girl walks like a turtle covered in molasses. And the full-white screen is straight up annoying, like the developers themselves are attempting to blind you for the full experience. But, hey it did leave an impression on me. Sucks it's not on sale anymore, so it's either in your library already or from a Humble Bundle.
Heartfelt little story. Beautiful graphics and very nice sound effects. It's not avaliable on the store anymore I'm afraid but I'm glad the developer made it.
A visually pleasing and beautiful game with a simple story. The premise is something I have never considered in my gaming so far -
the playable character is blind in game
. The implementation of this mechanic is splendidly done as well. This is one of the reasons your character will not run and most of the game requires you to walk and explore. Meaning, be prepared to spend a lot of time on the achievements. The story is well narrated with absolutely no text whatsoever and this is a strong suit of the game! Well crafted visuals will do just fine in narration! The colors of the game reminded me of water colors and it scores pretty high in the asthetics department. There are hidden achievements of course but figuring them out will take some time. The character animations and difference depicted in being confident and afraid are well thought out. One of the "rain" levels in this game did tick me off a bit since it meant my viewable area was constantly overwritten but thankfully it didn't extend too far. I especially liked the final ending, that depicted that life moves on with promise of it turning out to be better. - 9/10

Art games, so difficult to review. Beyond eyes is just a walking simulator where you play as Ray, a girl who is blind. Therefore the world unravels as you walk around. She also reacts to noises and smells, which help her to fill the gaps. Probably the best aspect of these mechanics, is how she most of the time is wrong on what is making a noise, and once you get close to it, the real object fades in. Ray starts her journey by leaving her house to find her cat. That's the whole plot. The game is divided in 6 chapters, plus a short prologue. It's a very short game, but somehow it drags a lot because of one specific thing. The walking speed is ultra slow. It makes sense ingame that a blind person is going to be cautious and slow, but when you already traversed most of the space on each chapter, it takes a ton of time to go back to a place where maybe there was something else. There's barely any interactions, apart from some very basic puzzles like fetch a ball. Some chapters introduce what probably is the biggest challenge: rain. The rain will erase what you uncovered so far, introducing an element of rush to not get lost. Most of the levels except the first one, are actually quite big. Since most of the time is spent uncovering the fog of war, it is easy to get super lost in the rain level. The other huge problem is that there are missable collectables and the game won't keep track of them. If you are a completionist and missed one, you have to replay chapters and be lucky to find the missing ones. Also, there's no mid chapter saving. You always restart any chapter so better make sure you have the time to finish the current chapter before quitting. Surprisingly, the ending caught me off guard. It's generally a cute game, but it feels like they could have make a much better gaming experience with the setting than just being a slowly moving girl. If you are looking for a similar vibe game but actually quite good, check Papo & Yo.
very dramatic but chill experience. Heart warming story playing as a game
