Betrayed, Joraell's third work and masterpiece, is a multiple-choice sandbox visual novel set in an imaginary world, created by the author in collaboration with DarkMage and Dracula Belmont, in which decisions matter in determining the shape of the adventure of our protagonist (name chosen by the player).
The latter has just been hit by a car and finds himself torn between his guardian angel and a demon on how to move on with "life" after his recent passing, which leads him to sign a contract that will grant to his newly damned soul some powers, such as invisibility, mind control, and a month or so of extra time to have a fun before the games are over.
An enticing proposition that brings with it a slight drawback, as a spirit he will basically find himself temporarily possessing various characters in order to interact with the world around him, also inadvertently ending up in the midst of a mysterious and interesting illicit traffic that he will investigate with “growing interest".
The game, although structured in a sandbox, is easy to navigate and free of grinding, which should not bother even the most hostile to this style, furthermore, depending on the choices made, you can reach up to 4 different endings.
Given the premises, the change of characters, focus and objectives is a peculiarity of the title that can be at first disconcerting for some, but it's not difficult to get used to it and it's a singular and fun way to move the story forward, also aided by a robust internal hint system.
This is the developer's first Ren'py work (Ordinary Day 1 and 2, including the latter's prequel, were in RPGM, while Devil's Mansion was a short study on animations in Unity) whose development began at the end of August 2018 and continued until completition on November 2023, which was then followed by refinements and bugfixes.
Despite the long development time, the girls' models are very captivating and the animations are very well done as well as of consistent duration, espicially for the time. Additionally, the soundtrack is light and pleasant, even if there are no moans during the spicy scenes. There are also a few leftovers in the form of test saves in the first 9 pages, plus one on the 30th which is also copied in the main game folder, probably also for these tests, at the moment, the replay gallery on the phone, once found, is almost entirely unlocked.
[spoiler]Anyway, the theme of expansion, especially if done well, even if not taken to extreme levels, is decidedly rare and this gives the title another strong incentive to recommend it, as well as the army of wonderful asses willingly ready for anal sex.[/spoiler]
The title does not have a Steam Cloud save function, and the scene and bonus galleries are available on the protagonist's smartphone and not in the main menu, note that the first one seems to remain unlocked between one game and another, while the second one does not. Additionally, the message history is not available, however the rollback is not disabled.
[spoiler]Personal note: this time it was really tough, with a tight fight for the title of best girl, but in the end it was Bethany who won, who in her dreams and with Brooke gives satisfaction in abundance, but she was hunted down in a pile-up by Scarlett, Brooke, who has an adorable way of carrying the cans, Angel, who wins everything in the redemption ending, and Devil, whose "close-ups" on the good ending are exquisite to say the least. Just after there is Megan, whose problem is that she has only one scene and not even alone, followed by Ivana, Sophia, Tracy, and Rebecca.
As more than honorable mentions I have to mention Layla, Judy, Summer, Gabi, the Car Dealer and Brooke's mom, the policeman's Blonde neighbor and Mrs. Baber, who unfortunately leaves us high and, almost, dry.[/spoiler]

Betrayed, terza opera nonché capolavoro di Joraell, è una visual novel in stile sandbox a scelta multipla ambientata in un mondo immaginario, creato dall'autore in collaborazione con DarkMage e Dracula Belmont, nella quale le decisioni hanno un peso nel determinare l'andamento dell'avventura del nostro protagonista (nome a scelta del giocatore).
Quest'ultimo è appena stato investito da un'auto e si ritrova conteso tra il suo angelo custode e un demone sul come andare avanti con la "vita" dopo la sue recente dipartita, cosa che lo porta a firmare un contratto che garantirà alla sua neo-dannata anima alcuni poteri, come l'invisibilità, il controllo mentale, e un mesetto di tempo extra per sollazzarsi per bene prima della fine dei giochi.
Una proposta allettante che porta con sé un leggero inconveniente, come spirito si troverà fondamentalmente a possedere temporaneamente vari personaggi per poter interagire col mondo circostante, finendo anche inavvertitamente nel giro di un misterioso quanto interessante traffico illecito sul quale si troverà suo malgrado ad indagare con "crescente interesse".
Il gioco, pur strutturandosi in una sandbox, è di facile navigazione e privo di grinding, cosa non dovrebbe disturbare nemmeno i più ostici a questo stile, inoltre, a seconda delle scelte effettuate, si potranno raggiungere fino a 4 differenti finali.
Date le premesse, il cambiamento di personaggi, focus e obbiettivi è una peculiarità del titolo che può essere inizialmente spiazzante per alcuni, ma non è difficile abituarcisi ed è un singolare e divertente modo per far procedere la vicenda, aiutata anche da un robusto sistema di aiuti interno.
[spoiler]Ad ogni modo, la tematica dell'espansione specialmente se fatta bene, pur se non portata a livelli estremi, è decisamente rara e questo da al titolo un altro forte incentivo per raccomandarlo, così come anche l'esercito di bei didietro volenterosamente pronti per il sesso anale.[/spoiler]
Si tratta della prima opera in Ren'py dello sviluppatore (Ordinary Day 1 e 2, incluso il prequel di quest'ultimo, erano in RPGM, mentre la parentesi Devil's Mansion era uno studio sulle animazioni fatto in Unity) il cui inizio dello sviluppo risale alla fine di agosto del 2018 ed è continuato fino al completamento nel novembre del 2023, a cui sono però poi seguiti rifiniture e bugfix.
Nonostante il lungo sviluppo, i modelli delle ragazze sono assai accattivanti e le animazioni assai ben fatte, oltre che di consistente durata, soprattutto per l'epoca. Inoltre, la colonna sonora è leggera e piacevole, pure se non ci sono gemiti durante le scene piccanti. Ci sono anche un po' di lasciti sotto forma di salvataggi di test nelle prime 9 pagine, più una alla 30esima che si trova in copia anche nella cartella di gioco principale, probabilmente anche per questo, allo stato attuale, la galleria dei replay sul telefono, una volta trovato, è quasi interamente sbloccata.
Il titolo non è provvisto della funzione di salvataggio su Steam Cloud, inoltre le gallerie delle scene e dei bonus sono disponibili nello smartphone del protagonista e non nel menu principale, si noti che la prima pare restare sbloccata tra una partita e l'altra, mentre la seconda invece no. Inoltre non è disponibile la cronologia dei dialoghi, anche se il rollback non è però disabilitato.
[spoiler]Nota personale: questa volta è stata davvero dura, con una lotta serrata per il titolo di best girl, ma alla fine è stata Bethany a spuntarla, che in sogno e con Brooke dà soddisfazioni a profusione, braccata però a mo' di ammucchiata da Scarlett, Brooke, che ha un modo adorabile di portare le lattine, Angel, che vince tutto nel finale della redenzione, e Devil, i cui "primissimi piani" sul finale buono sono squisiti a dir poco. Appena dopo c'è Megan, il cui problema è che ha un sola scena e nemmeno da sola, seguita da Ivana, Sophia, Tracy e Rebecca.
Come menzioni più che d'onore devo citare Layla, Judy, Summer, Gabi, la venditrice (Car Dealer) e la madre di Brooke, la vicina bionda del poliziotto e Mrs. Baber, che purtroppo ci lascia a bocca asciutta... be', magari quella no, ma fa lo stesso.[/spoiler]
