Dead servers. Not playable anymore, not sure why it's still on steam.
Frustrating, repetitive and has next to no playerbase. I've tried to stick with it since launch while managing a Corporation but can't anymore. The landscape is dominated by a few whales who haven't realized the game is a lost cause yet. I've played the prequel, Hades' Star, for 18 months and that game is infinitely better - don't even bother with this. Perhaps its only redeeming quality is that it's free, but so is Hades' Star.
Donate, random loot boxes, pay and win.
Also, the selection of players is just terrible!
And there seems to be a rating ladder, but it throws players at random. Probably many factors are taken into account, such as modules, turrets and their levels. I got to 1400, and I came across guys who barely hatched (pvp starts at 600) with a rating of 700-800 and honestly it’s not even interesting to win, and sometimes it drops to the nerds 1900-2300... and after such fights, the only question is "What was it?!" How from the very beginning opponent puts such ships, and there is absolutely nothing I can do with them. The concept is cool, the design is good, but with its flaws. And maybe it would all cost money, but the selection and balance are disgusting. Try it, it's free, but I warned you.

Thank God they took this pay2win game off the Steam Store.
Game is garbage. Why? The pay to win aspect is obvious. Instead of making it a Coop Game with optional PVP they decided to just put player against players in a game where you can spend money to just straight up buy better weapons, and module upgrades. With the first ship, I faced against people with the last two ships. In my first PvP games. To add to that: what brainlet decided to not let you choose what mode to play? It just forces you into a game mode with no option to play the ones you enjoy. And finally. They insisted so much on having players face players in an attempt to force them to spend money for good weapons and upgrade fodder that it sometimes takes 5-6 minutes to find a game, instead of just letting you play vs an AI. And they have game modes that are straight up unbalanced as a game design, where one player is on the attacking side, and the other is defending. Fun part the ship you are defending/attacking also retaliates. It's not just a moving object. I have won 90% of the games where I was defending and lost 90% of the ones I am attacking (played 22 games in that game mode, was defending player 7 times and won 6 of them, while I won 2 games out of 15 in the other game mode) And that was also facing players with beefier weapons/ships/modules. You can see the levels of their ships and theirs were higher, but I still won because that kind of gamemode is horribly to play as just pure PVP. They could have made it a 2v2 pvp if they really wanted to or even a 2v4 PVE experience. And the game would have been great. The interface is garbage as it is clearly made to be played on a phone or a tablet. What to do to improve? 1. Add PvP as an optional thing where you can test your mettle instead of that being the outright only game version. 2. Let players choose what they wanna play when, and make it so that if there is no one playing you just default to an AI with random modules. 3. Seriously, your first game was so good because it focused around starting in PvE, and slowly opened up options for ranked games vs other players. 4. Add an option to Yaw your ship on the spot by 90 degrees, as the random nodes placement is not really that great of a mechanic especially when it costs to move your turrets around. 5. I spent a bit of money on Hades Star and I do not regret a single dime, so I tried Battleship Apollo as well hoping to do the same. This just proved to me that the devs went insane with greed so I won't be spending any money in BA, not any more money in Hades Star as I don't want to support this blatant greed of such an unpolished and crusted game. Final note. You had a really cool mechanic, with a lot of options to allow players to spend money to enjoy it, if you made it possible to play in coop vs increasingly more difficult odds, but instead you choose to try and target the vulnerable point of whales into paying to win, while somehow managing to ♥♥♥♥ that up as well. Edit: I know why this games sucks so much. You wait around 10 minutes in a queue for a good chance to find someone who has modules you cannot beat. You physically do not have them unlocked yet. And the battles last around 2 minutes. Just make the wait time 20 seconds, if you don't find a player default with a bot. The reworks should be insignificant, unless you never balanced your game in the first place and the only thing that really has any balance is the Duel.
Pathetic, you idiots killed HS for this garbage and before it even launched you killed it. And 3 years later, you brainless idiots killed both games because you didn't like how people were playing it. Boohoo, now you have 2 dead games.
Do I think you should play this game? NO! Do I think you should play this game in 6m-1yr? Definitely! It has some great core mechanics with deck building and an RTS aspect mixed with tactical gameplay in a truly well done manner. Here however is why I dont recommend this title, its simply too bare-bones, It has about 30 cards you can play and about 10 different ship types which is enough to give alot of replayability but not in an interesting and entertaining way. When this game has 20+ ship types and 50+ cards with a few more game modes I am certain it will be an amazing game but for now I can see that It just wont be worth your grind.
ok!
