I enjoy this game. Although it is majorly lacking in content, it makes up for that with the content it has being relatively well made and enjoyable. You are an AA system. You shoot aircraft. It's straight to the point. And if you are complaining that 5 bucks is too much for a VR game... (I see a few reviews like that) Try getting your finances in order before dropping $200-$1000 buckaroos on a VR headset pal.

YES! YES! YES! If anyone remembers playing Beach Head or Missile Command and enjoying it, then this game will tick your box. I paid £4 for this, the price of a burger meal… and I’m not disappointed! Although it is lacking a little something that Beach Head gives, it does satisfy for the price. I found this game by accident… I can’t remember what I was playing but I remember Beach Head just popped into my head like some random flashback. I remembered how cool and difficult the game was, not only that but also how unique that type of game is. So while in another game I immediately did ALT+F4 and I started looking for Beach Head! To my surprise google brought up steam catalogue and there was beach head… I couldn’t believe I’d never seen it on steam before! I nearly bought it as soon as I saw it, but for some reason I started making sure there wasn’t a later version released that I may have missed. Somehow I found Barrage. I saw it had VR and I just bought it… it does have the Beach Head feel and here's some explanation for those that don’t understand what the communities talking about…. You are a static killing machine, you are unable to move in any direction but you can move 360 degrees (THIS IS PERFECT FOR VR!) instead of arms you have unbelievably huge cannons or machine guns, which ever you want as you can change in the game at any time by using the joystick part of your VR Controller. It’s also worth pointing out you also have heat seeking missiles… Ever seen Robocop and wanted to be ED-209? Well here you go folks! So yeah, you have 360 degree movement and the idea is to destroy as many aircraft as possible… The aircraft come in waves and while some drop bombs, some also fire missiles and some simply kamikaze at you. Oh… You also have GLOC missiles which reload themselves depending on where you put your level up points.... ....and then there’s a huge boss, like a zeppelin. WOW GREAT IDEA!! The waves are pretty balanced, and then all of a sudden the sky’s open up and hell just appears right in front of you. GREAT FUN, GET SHOOTING! And now I’m going back to beach head… To the developer… It appears that a lot of people have stumbled across your brilliant game by searching beach head. Yes it is slightly unfair that lots of people are comparing the two, and I’ve done the same. But if you release another game, maybe add something extra other than air units. Possibly soldiers, tanks, jeeps…. Anyway, back to the review… So on RIFT… use the triggers on each controller to fire your cannon or machine gun. For firing missiles; it’s a case of holding down either Y or B to bring up missiles, keep either button held down and whatever you look at it then highlights, then just let go of either of those buttons and watch the heat seekers / GLOCS whatever they are seek and destroy… Brilliant fun! Things I love about this game: It’s just pure carnage! I love the sound effects that are made when you shoot and I love the screen shake to match it (you can turn this off if you prefer) and nothing beats the sight of seeing tons of aircraft tumbling out the sky with huge smoke trails and fire. This really gives me the impression that you’re a mean bad ass and capable of anything... What I also like is the fact you can defend against bombs and blasts by kinda raising your arms and using like your virtual elbow part of the guns as a shield… If that doesn’t make sense, it will in game! Things I want; more land units… I know that’s slightly unfair on the developer because that’s not the game, but it would be a little cooler if we had tanks and other stuff to pop bullets at, or possibly another level where you’re on the Beach… *HINT HINT* One thing I will kinda complain about (but its fixable) is the sound volume. It’s does feel like maybe these sound effects were recorded at too high volume and sometimes it hurts your ears lol but its just a case of adjusting your windows volume.
