This is one of the coolest fighting game i ever played, the animations are clean and the voice lines are perfect. I really recommend this game. Go Team Avatar !
Very neat game! ...But it was super scummy of the team to hide that Mike Z was involved in the project (As the combat director, no less). On top of that, the game was released far too early! From no ranked, no spectator, no public lobbies, and 3 partly unfinished characters that are on the BASE CAST, Paramount clearly rushed this out... They did the same thing to both NASB games, and unfortunately, did the same thing here...
not worth 40 no difficulty setting or even controller remapping and im pretty decent at most fighters but this just felt like i had no clue what buton did what for each move or character
If you’re a fighting game expert, you will probably have a good time with this. If you’re a fan of Avatar but not used to fighting games (like me), in its current state I cannot recommend it. - The tutorials are well intentioned but generally demand perfection of long strings of combos out of you. An attempt is made here to let you “rehearse” the move ahead of time by pausing each part of the combo and letting you mimic the actions. Often though the move will be very timing dependent, so you’ll have get stuck on step 7 of 11 with no indication of what you’re doing wrong (too early? Too late? Idk start the whole thing over). Also the text displayed in tutorials can still be confusing despite the buttons being swapped to match your controller as they will reference a label for the button that doesn’t match what you need to press (ex: A = X button, Flow = A Button). - The story mode (the only thing I expected to enjoy in this game at my skill level) has CPU opponents with MAXED out difficulty with no way to change it at the time of writing. Tried for a few hours now but can’t beat the first level’s fights to even progress the story. These problems seem like they can be smoothed over in time and I hope they do. I mostly bought this to support Avatar despite not being into fighting games beyond smash and having never been able to do motion inputs consistently (still can’t). Great art and I hope the game improves over time.
YIPPEE I LOVE FIGHT GAMES
Great game! I hope the devs don't mess it up and the community doesn't abandon it.
Yeah it's decent - I'm by no means a big 2d/anime fighter guy (more a tekken person), but the characters are fun and feel faithful to the show, the art and animation is gorgeous, and the online & matchmaking feels excellent so far. I played around 30 games online with almost zero wait time between matches, in Europe, despite there being a Tokon beta running at the same time. Whether it stays that way several months later I can't say, but rollback and crossplay on day one is very much appreciated. Anyway, the core game itself feels very fun, polished, and mechanically deep - if you like your fighting games, don't be put off by the mixed reviews, especially at this price. Where it's maybe lacking right now is single player content - there is an arcade mode, story, trials and training modes, as you'd expect, but nothing too fancy, and I don't know if that's enough these days for people who are reluctant to play online. Lack of a difficulty select suggests to me they ran out of time, but hopefully this will be added post release. Overall though, still a really solid fighting game with good online and a fun cast of characters. [Disclosure: until last month my employer used to be owned by Paramount corporation. I didn't get this for free and I don't know anyone who worked on it.]
