It was... nice. That's all there is to say. Try it, it only takes like 7 minutes to complete. Note that I had an issue with my Index, as the virtual playspace was waay below the real one. I had to use OVR Advanced Settings to "fix" that.
Interesting experience from Google. It's basically a short test of their audio SDK. I didn't really notice that much of difference to other games in terms of sound though, other than the floor where you had to connect the wires. That specific one sounded very nice for some reason, it even gave me goosebumps. It's just 5-10 minutes long. I can recommend this to people who have good headphones.
It was buggy, I was floating 1m above the air and couldn't get down. Had to crouch to start the game. But aside from that it's a cool 5-10 mins of stereo audio experience.

Good experience.
Audio Factory is the kind of game/tool that makes you feel like a genius audio engineer for about 45 seconds… right up until you touch one slider and your speakers start reciting curses in 2006 dubstep. It’s basically: **build a little sound pipeline → tweak knobs → become a menace to your own ears.** You’ll load in thinking, “I’ll make something chill.” Next thing you know you’ve created: * a bass that sounds like a fridge falling down stairs, * a snare that’s just two angry mosquitoes high-fiving, * and a “vocal” that is definitely your soul leaving your body. The “factory” part is accurate because once you get rolling, it becomes an assembly line: 1. Make a nice sound. 2. Get greedy. 3. Add one more effect “for flavor.” 4. Destroy everything. 5. Save anyway. (It’s art.) Also, nothing is funnier than confidently pressing play and realizing you’ve invented **the loudest possible silence** because something isn’t routed correctly. I’ve never felt more powerful and more stupid at the same time. **Pros:** * Super satisfying when you get a groove going * Encourages experimentation (and chaos) * You can make genuinely cool stuff… between disasters **Cons:** * One wrong knob = sonic war crime * I now fear the words “gain” and “feedback” * My “quick idea” turned into a 2-hour tuning session 9/10. Audio Factory is a wonderful playground for sound nerds and chaos gremlins. I came to make music. I left with 37 unfinished projects and a new ringtone that sounds like a robot sneezing in a tunnel.
I got about 10 minutes out of this little experience and enjoyed it immensely. I did not have headphones plugged into my headset, but the sound was still immersive and engaging. I played this on a Quest 2 via Steam Link, and the default button mapping worked reasonably well. I did however encounter the technical issue of floating far above the ground, at least twice my actual height. I could still reach necessary buttons and interactive elements of the environment, because thankfully I didn't have to put my actual "hands" on them to make them work. Just point and press the trigger. I played this sitting, but it would have been easier to stand because there are several points at which you need to turn 90 to 180 degrees to reach things. There's not much reason to replay this, unless you just want to hear The Sounds all over again (which I find tempting, not gonna lie).
This is a ten minutes demo of some audio engine. I didn't notice any special audio effects. Also, it put the camera on the floor level in my Index, so I was looking at everything from way above. Still, an OK game to check your headset.
cool 10-minute experience, not something most people would replay but I'd recommend it nonetheless
