Time for some brutal honesty. Overall the game is meh, despite claims that it has the best parkour in the series i truly believe it has the worst parkour in the series, Arno just simply ignores your orders 90% of the time, constantly fumbling around with windows and throwing himself in the complete opposite direction that you want him to, it's flashy but it is absolutely insufferable on a level i have never experienced in the series, i played a bunch of the original AC games before this an there was simply no situation where i got quite as frustrated at the parkour like the entire playthrough of Unity, it's almost impossible to play without some silly random magnetism and god the bug where you get shot while climbing and just get stuck in the falling animation happened about 3 or 4 times in my playthrough. Story: Genuinely the biggest nothing burger in history, Arno is a plank, all these emotional moments and yet it's all so ungodly boring, it just feels extremely rushed and stakes feel unbelievably low, terrible mission layouts and nothing worth remembering, this is a game that basically has no meaning to the wider series. Side content and collectibles: I would not wish this suffering on my worst enemy, every single sidequest is straight up boring and uninspired, there's legitimately not a single entertaining side quest, don't get me started on collectibles, an entire map filled with chests, a downright chore, this game essentially plays like a job list it's frankly the best example of soulless timewasting which is funny because they sell you time saver packs which definitely wouldn't save time anyway. Coop: Man it saddens me that this is where coop started and ended, it's the only thing Unity does sorta well, i say sorta because it still suffers the awful side quest design. Stealth and combat: Stealth barely works, constantly inconsistent, max stealth on your outfit? Spotted in a millisecond! Combat is just old combat with some really annoying enemies, all of this can be bypassed by just spamming smoke bombs and killing everyone while they're stunned, very weak and unengaging mo. I'm currently playing Syndicate and it fixes legitimately every major issue i have with Unity, mission design isn't as annoying, parkour actually works, combat is extremely meaty and brutal, grappling hook helps exploring feel less like a chore, carts also help you get around faster, I'd honestly recommend Syndicate instead, it uses the same parkour as Unity but it is refined to the point that suffering is practically non existent.
good game trash launcher
Favorite AC game by far!!! People hate on the story but tho it wasn’t perfect it sure was good enough to want to play more of it. As far as the gameplay goes… ITS INCREDIBLE! Best parkour in the series! Best stealth in the series! And the combat isn’t horrible either it’s actually not too bad. And Paris is amazing with so many places to parkour and FILLES with SOOOO MANY PEOPLE. I have never seen such an alive world before. And it’s not just the streets bc a good 45% of the buildings you can go into. 9.5/10 must play
Just another good game that suffers from enshittification. The Ubisfoft Connect launcher is absolute trash. You can enter the right login info 500 times and will still mess up and when you finally do log in, the game runs like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because UBC wants to run 3 million processes in the background. If you want to play this game, there are better ways.
I like the vibes of the games and the parkour and combat is my most favorite in the whole ac franchise
"Que veux-tu, c'est la France" (i mean… it's France) who will argue about the totally mechanical superiority of unity over other parts of ac? right, nobody. the game was, is, and will be the top of the series. if y'all wanna play ac, unity will give you the most of what this series can offer. on the technical side, unity is still a bit "limping" in places. well, have you seen thousands of npc living their lives? or is it possible to enter such a number of interiors almost seamlessly that gta 4 will seem like childish babbling? also in game for some reason there is no way to start a new game. et voilà. and the general problem of unity, a crime i would say - the story line. the whole second part of the story is about arno & eliza, and everything revolves around them. arno without eliza – a cross to bear for the whole story, and the game shows it. after ending. the ending itself looks like a fragment torn out of context or just a cheap and quick way to finish the story. the final arno's monologue shows it perfectly. the monologue in unity isn't an ending of the story, because it deprives the whole game and arno as a character of meaning. the last chapters are literally a crime, ubisoft just delivered a coup de grâce to their own narrative. __________________________ «Такое дело…
L'exception française
Here's a better conspiracy theory than the triple-helix DNA in your father's load that accidentally gave you farsightedness instead of eagle vision—the Guillemot family gatekeeps Unity's art and engineering to deliberately nerf whatever comes after, just to maintain undisputed French superiority over art and culture. I can't quite prove it, but the Académie des Beaux-Arts is definitely in on it. But that's just a theory, a game theory!
