ARK: Survival Ascended

This game is such a piece of crap. It's the worst best dino game ever. I want to love it. I want to want to play it. However at every turn they seem to want me to uninstall and forget this game. Broken map releases. Charging money for new maps before the old maps are fixed. Progression losses. Horrible performance. Features always being locked behind another new paywall. Pay to win tames and gear. I can't even update the game anymore. I have a completely new nVME drive (512 GB) just for this game. I do have other drives but they have other games on them (I have a lot of games) so I had a 512 GB drive just for this game. Now apparently over 230 GB of free space is not enough to apply an update that's apparently only 3 GB. Do not buy and everyone stop playing this game and giving them your time and hard earned cash! Let's make this company suffer for their decisions!

[h2]❌ Une version plus belle, mais bien moins agréable à jouer[/h2] J’attendais beaucoup de [b]Ark: Survival Ascended[/b], censé moderniser le jeu original grâce à l’Unreal Engine 5. Je l’ai acheté seulement [b]9 € pendant une promotion à -75 %[/b], et malgré ce prix très bas, je regrette quand même mon achat. Le plus gros problème reste l’optimisation. Le jeu consomme énormément de ressources, même avec une configuration moyenne, sans pour autant offrir des performances correctes. Les FPS sont très instables, les ralentissements sont fréquents et les crashs peuvent arriver sans prévenir. Même les technologies censées améliorer les performances ne règlent pas vraiment le problème. Avec le [b]DLSS[/b], notamment lorsque la génération d’images est activée, j’ai ressenti une latence énorme dans les commandes. Le compteur de FPS peut sembler plus élevé, mais le jeu devient parfois moins réactif et désagréable à contrôler. Les paramètres sont également très mal gérés. Certains réglages graphiques ou de gameplay ne se sauvegardent même pas correctement, ce qui oblige à refaire sa configuration après avoir relancé le jeu. Pour un titre vendu normalement à un prix aussi élevé, ce genre de problème est difficilement acceptable. L’expérience multijoueur est tout aussi décevante. Rejoindre des amis ou certains serveurs peut devenir compliqué, avec des désynchronisations, des retours en arrière, une latence importante et des serveurs qui peinent à rester fluides. À cela s’ajoutent de nombreux bugs déjà présents dans Ark: Survival Evolved, accompagnés de nouveaux problèmes propres à cette version. L’interface manque parfois de réactivité, certains dinosaures se comportent bizarrement et la physique reste souvent imprévisible. Le jeu est évidemment plus beau, mais une amélioration graphique ne suffit pas lorsqu’elle se fait au détriment de la stabilité, de la fluidité et du confort de jeu. À l’heure actuelle, Ark: Survival Evolved reste selon moi plus performant et plus agréable à jouer. Même payé seulement [b]9 €[/b], je trouve l’expérience difficile à recommander. En l’état actuel, mieux vaut rester sur la version originale et attendre de vraies améliorations concernant les performances, les serveurs et les nombreux bugs.

Bought it with group of friends, enjoyed it for a weekend. Now have to wait hours sometimes for "updates" which is almost every day it seems.

Ark has gone horribly downhill. A lot of the introduced content would be great if: 1) The DLCs were actually finished and not being released in various waves. 2) I'm fully convinced they don't actually have testers. A lot of the content, especially new DLC content, feels like it was thrown together untested to meet the roadmap (which gets pushed back later and later). 3) A lot of it is money-grabbing slop, I won't lie. Tides of Fortune is just horrible. The ships barely control and have a host of bugs by themselves, never mind the recent ocean biome mob spawn 'fix' that ended up nuking the oceans into being nearly barren of life. I'm pretty sure the game studio is on-life support with how aggressive they're trying to launch new untested content. I can't speak on whether it's the publisher or the development studio, but it's just horrid. Base game isn't terrible, the first few DLCs are good ports from ASE, everything recent is bad enough to warrant another negative review to the pile. Cheers.
