As a big fan of old DOS platformers, it's fun to see an earlier game from the same team that made Secret Agent (one of my favorites). Everything's a little rougher around the edges (the graphics are CGA, the controls aren't quite as tight, and the mechanics are simpler), but the foundations of an entertaining platformer are all there. Tricky jumps, lots of treasure to collect, slight puzzle elements, hidden bonuses... It all comes together for a simple but engaging romp. The levels (which are accessed from an overworld that requires keys and a boat to fully explore) are each contained within a single screen, but this has the benefit of deaths not being too punishing as the levels don't take to long too beat (and you've got infinite lives). We get 4 episodes with about 20 levels each, which is a decent amount of content to get through. I do have a few gripes, though: - When you start the game, you have no way of knowing which episodes you've already beaten or how far you've gotten in any given episode. You get one save file for each episode, but there is no overall progress tracker. - It's a very bare-bones port. No achievements, bonus content or added features. - While I was able to play mostly without issue with my 8bitdo XBox-compatible controller, none of the buttons were mapped to the "shoot" function, so whenever I had to clear out enemies I needed to hold the controller in one hand and hit the "Z" key with the other. - The controls are a little wonky, particularly in how jumping is handled. You can't jump immediately upon landing from a jump or fall, so good reflexes are less important than anticipation and planning. Still, if you dig retro PC games and can find the charm in outdated, primitive (by today's standards) games, then Arctic Adventure definitely scratches an itch. Good, simple fun.

It's probably Apogee's oldest platforming game, but I was pleasantly surprised because it's not a bad game at all.
慈善包送的一款游戏,所有工具都得拿,好玩但非常难通关。 ---------------------------------------------- Charity pack's gift and good game, but hard to handle it.
C'est honteux
Fun little platformer from back in the day. Controls are a little clunky though
i'm voting down just because i didn't like this game. i did give it a try. its not i hate platformers just this one didn't do it for me. doesn't bother me it was an old game or controls as some people complained about. its funny how some don't pay attention or expect best controls for older games lol. a lot of them suffered those issues. anyways if this classic was something you liked when you were younger then grab it now to bring back those memories.
Of all the Apogee/3D Realm games you can play, this is not one of them. I hated the game back then and I still hate it now.

DOS game. Says it all.
This game is from the old days and its not bad, but its a platformer. Pixelated platformer. You can move, jump and shoot from your pistol. Very limited ammuniton, but that is not a bad thing, because you can jump over enemies. -Each level is a one screen level. -One pipe marks the start and one pipe marks the exit. The exit pipe is blocked by a bunch of blocks that need to be destroyed and your quest is to find the exact number of pickaxes need for these blocks. -There are also buttons that add or remove blocks from the level so if you dont know what to do, then look for a button. -Jump height is fixed, doesnt matter whether you hold or lightly tap the jump button. -Some blocks are breakable with your head. -Some blocks look like walls but contain gold. -Annoying blocks of ice(make you slide) and flying blocks are in this game too. Also spikes. Challenging platformer from the old days.
