"ANYKEY" is a simple and unusual game concept where up to 60 players can crowd around one keyboard, and each gets a single button to control a blip on a minimalist/neon arena, with the goal of not running into the side of the screen. Alternative presses of the button cycle between different movement modes (turn, rush, turn the other way, etc). In terms of technical implementation this is very bottom of the barrel stuff, with 2D retro "neon" graphics (might as well be 2D retro pixel, either way it's as bad as graphics can get). There's no 4K support despite the game being released in 2018, which is both inexplicable and unacceptable. The controls can't really be customised because it's just a one button game (but you can choose any key from your keyboard). The fact that the game can't benefit from customisation really gets to the middle of the problem, this is just too simple of a game to be taken seriously by anyone. While this is being given away for free, certainly a noble gesture, there's so little to this that it's difficult to suggest anyone spends time on it. Games don't exist in a vacuum, on Steam, "ANYKEY" is competing with so many free games like DOTA2, CS:GO... the list goes on. How can I tell people to stop playing Apex Legends so they can play this 1-button game with no 4K support and phoned-in minimalist "art" graphics? Yeah, I can't recommend this.
