Amorous is a free visual novel and dating simulator aimed at adult audiences. Set in a futuristic world populated by anthropomorphic characters, it emphasizes relationship-building, character interaction, and player choice over traditional gameplay. Its mature content means it's intended only for adults. What it does well Well-written characters. Each romance option has a distinct personality, motivations, and story arc, making conversations engaging. Strong world-building. The futuristic setting and diverse cast create a believable social environment beyond the romance. Meaningful choices. Dialogue and decisions can influence relationships and lead to different outcomes. Free to play. The base game is available at no cost, making it easy to try if you're interested in the genre. Weaknesses Limited gameplay. Most of the experience consists of reading dialogue and making choices, so players looking for action or strategy may find it slow. Niche appeal. Its anthropomorphic cast and adult focus won't appeal to everyone. Incomplete content. As an evolving project, some routes and features have historically been more developed than others. Gameplay The core gameplay revolves around: Meeting characters. Choosing dialogue options. Building relationships over time. Unlocking different scenes and endings based on your decisions. Success comes from understanding each character's personality rather than mastering complex mechanics. Story Rather than following a single linear plot, the game focuses on your interactions with individual characters. Each route explores different themes, personalities, and relationships, giving the experience a more character-driven structure. Who should play it? Yes, if you enjoy visual novels, dating simulators, branching dialogue, and character-focused storytelling. Probably not, if you prefer gameplay-heavy RPGs or action games, or if you're not interested in adult-oriented visual novels. Overall Amorous succeeds as a character-driven visual novel with memorable writing and meaningful relationship choices. While its gameplay is simple and its appeal is specialized, it offers a solid experience for players interested in story-focused dating sims. Overall rating: 7.5/10 – A well-written adult visual novel with engaging characters and replay value, best suited to fans of the genre.

The writing is decent, but more than once I found myself faced with dialogue options that were unclear, and lacked context. More than once, I picked an option that seemed appropriate but actually meant something different that led to negative outcomes. On top of this, I lost two hours of progress to a game breaking bug. I saved my game before making a crucial dialogue choice, and loading that save resulted in a softlock.
