Not bad.
nice
Nice little megaman clone. You can beat it in 30 minutes on your first playtrough. It's good fun for the asking price.
I received this game from the creator to play and show my opinions and I have to say this game is great. Pros: Very Mega Man like feels great and controls fairly well Stages aren't too long and every hit you take feels like it's your own fault not like the game cheated you Bosses have a good difficulty and like Mega Man its rock paper scissors and you need to find what works best Music is great very nostalgic of classic NES era games Cons: Trying to jump out of a slide is a little clunky No native joy-stick support (old NES style game anyway so D-pad isn’t bad) No internal volume slider I’m having a blast with this game brings back a lot of fond memories of playing through Mega Man 2 and even though some sound effects don’t fit in well they are very enduring and makes the game so much more lovely. I really would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to play a Mega Man like game.
A very fun megaman clone. Level design is very solid, and the abilities you get from bosses are fun to use. The bosses have interesting and unique patterns, some being very challenging. There's also a fair bit of replay value, if you want to challenge yourself and get the tougher achievements
(or alternate ending)
I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of 2D platformers, especially ones on the more difficult side!
I really like about 40% of this game. There's certainly a niche among Megaman die-hards that'll love Alphaman in spite of its flaws. Annoying aspects of the original Megaman titles - limited by inferior hardware - don't exist here. The speed is markedly improved. Some of the platforming puzzles are fiendish in very clever ways. The things I didn't like but wouldn't count against the game are the shortness (only 4 bosses), clunky menus, minimalist animations, and sometimes baffling art design. I forgive those, no problem. My objective criticisms have to do with the mechanics, which work for me just short of a majority of the time. Wall-jumping feels great until you have to platform with it. Dashing I immediately forgot I had. Maneuvering levels doesn't feel good, like there's too much gravity pulling you down. Those criticisms are small in number, but punishing in scope. These core mechanics make or break a game in this genre, and for me in Alphaman's case, it's more the latter.
Graphics: enjoyable Music: their is was a bop (i think) Game play: 7.5 Story: based Lore: robot Covid Volume: loud Alpha: yes Funny:
the final boss is a skeleton crab
Length: 1:24:23.3 Summary: Erm... Alphaman at it's base is a pretty decent megaman inspired game. There's fun to be had and it can definitely give that itch if you really want megaman. I think there's just a lot of small annoyances that end up hindering my enjoyment of it unfortunately. The level design is alright usually, though in the maid bot level it really has issues with not seeing ahead (and there are a lot of enemies that will just fall onto you. Enemy variety can be a bit lacking as well. The two issues I ran into a lot are the lack of coyote time and unclearness of how to tackle some of the later enemies. Some of the minibosses don't really feel clear on what attacks are even doing anything. I also feel like half the new attacks are just kind of bad in this game? The Knife feels like it does almost no damage, and doesn't even seem to hit some airborn bosses, and the holy molotov is so specific to set up it doesn't seem to be worth it? I never even figured out what boss is weak to it. If it's fire man I sure didn't gather that from the no damage the weapon does. What ended up really making me frustrated is the last boss. It's the classic thing of jump on the hands and then you can attack it, but there's three issues. First, the hands don't stop on the ground so you can't really tell where to stand to get on it. Second, the hands can just fly you into the bosses hitbox and immediately knock you off when it's going back to the normal position. Lastly, the boss is immune to normal bullets, which is fine except that instead of like making a noise to suggest this, the bullets just don't hit the boss? I thought something was wrong because of this. It's not all bad though, I do actually like the change made to how special weapons work in this versus normal megaman. Instead of overtaking your bullets, it's a secondary attack. Plus the best part is when you run out of ammo, you can use a charge shot instead of ammo which is honestly a great idea. I'm really mixed cause I did have fun for quite a bit of the game, but it just ended up dragging down as I did the last couple stages. I think if you want a megaman game it might be worth a try but just kinda know what you are getting into.
