I could forgive the incredibly on the nose obvious woke storytelling. (It's literally "them" with "the haircut" and all women with all the usual woke ♥♥♥♥) I could excuse this being basically DLC priced at full price as if it's a whole new game. (It's not, literally everything is ripped from the first game) But I can't excuse how piss poor unplayable the game is. The fps drops, the lag, the stuttering, the poor core shooting feedback and experience, the lackluster level design, the TERRIBLE AI VOICES AND CHARACTER ANIMATIONS. We have brains. We are not your GOY sheep. Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with this slop. Western gaming is doomed and dead. Thank god for Asia. If you must get this, get it on a massive, MASSIVE sale. 50$? HAHAHAHAHA...I've never done drugs, but I sure am curious what they were taking when they thought 50$ was a good price for this lmao
Not fun. Refunded. The dialogues and voice lines are disastrous.
I usually see the good in most games and am really forgiving of a lot of issues but this game is so bad it compelled me to write a review. It's a long one so bare with me, but there's a lot wrong with this game. That's also coming from someone who adored the first game! This is entirely worse and for double the price. - Terrible performance with constant frame drops, I would regularly go down from 120 to like 14 and then back again. At first I thought it was maybe some shader compilation still happening and it would go away after the first time that shader appears, but nope! Even 5 hours in I was still dropping frames every 20 seconds, it became nauseating to play. - The dialogue is SO cringe and the facial animations are some of the worst that I've seen. Our group turned down the character audio completely, it's that bad. The game forces you to interact with these characters to progress the story in the hub and I couldn't skip it fast enough. - Music varies from actually pretty good, to what the actual f### am I listening to. The guns sound good at least, but listening to a smart gun fire constantly for 40 minutes at a time gets pretty tiresome. - Combat is sorta fun, but the time to kill feels terrible even on normal difficulty, let alone anything higher. Every encounter plays out basically the same. Think of a Hunter jumping on you from L4D and that happens every 10 seconds. Spitters stay back and hit you from range but they take so long to kill you just ultimately deal with it until the fight is over and then clean them up afterward. - THE AMMO. You'll constantly be running out of ammo because of the time to kill but the ammo crates are so far between one another that you'll almost always be down to your pistol, which exasperates the time to kill issue. How you progress through the levels are almost always blocked by locked doors that require you to clear the area first so you HAVE to fight everything. It also loves putting you in a holdoff situation while a door is locked and the providing you ammo on the other side of the door, not when you actually needed it during the holdoff. - The levels themselves have a little bit of exploration looking for cosmetic crates or credits to buy things from the annoying vendor in the hub. They're still super linear though. Run from point A to point B. Even the ones with objectives need to be completed in a linear order. - The environments where these levels take place are also bland and boring. Lots of metallic corridors in derelict spaceships. Even then, the spaceships don't feel lived in or have any interesting spots. Just hallways and rooms with bodies in them. - Sometimes items on the ground just can't be picked up, whoops! Even then the item economy isn't all that interesting. You've got a couple of different ammo types and like mines and grenades etc but they feel ineffective. - Class depth and customization is actually good but progression is pretty slow. I like the idea of taking perks from other classes and mixing and matching them to make something cool but the idea of playing this game long enough to unlock things on multiple classes is so unappealing. - Cosmetics are all pretty lame. It looks like a lot of weapon skins but most of them are ultimatley dark grey/black. Decal system didn't work, I wasn't able to scale, reposition or rotate them at all. This feels like a Xbox 360 game that you'd find at the bottom of a bargain bin at Walmart but it still costs the same as a modern release. If you REALLY love Alien, then I'd still recommend you just play the first one, but maybe pick this up on a STEEP sale and keep your expectations low. This is abysmal compared to other horde shooters on the market. You're better off with basically any other one. Do better, Cold Iron.
As a fan of the first one, I was looking forward to and excited about this game... I was wrong to be. Weapons have no stopping power. Xenos and Synths are bullet sponges... not the Specials, the BASIC drones... NEEDS Optimisation. Needs the Crossplay setting to actually work. I was playing on PC, my partner was hosting on PC... I couldn't join him on PC because Crossplay was OFF. See the issue, devs? Did I say it needs Optimised? I will say it has potential, but in its present state, I would wait for ... the next five updates to drop.
California Millennial writing, dialogue, and voice acting. absolutely garbage.
Terrible performance dude, don't even want to say other stuff.
my biggest and only glaring issue is how bad Peer to Peer hosting is, if your get connected to a host and midway drops you lose XP time spent without recovering. it punishes those with bad connectivity so hard. worse its even harder to find players on the same region thats why i have to queue in a broader region.
Kinda sucks, cos I do enjoy the game, but... Get fireteam 1, it's better. If you already have fireteam 1, just know, fireteam 2 is much, much worse. First the Pros: the Specialist is a great idea, turning the hand guns of fireteam 1 into sidearms in fireteam 2 was smart. Cons... : The classes just don't feel as impactful, the synth companions are even dumber and more useless than the previous game (their habit of just standing in a group, watching you, not firing a shot and getting mauled by things is infuriating cos it's like 25% of what they do!), there are so many game bugs, elemental damage is underutilised, the class abilities just don't feel as good are were better synergised in the first game. The story is non existent, WY scientist does WY scientist thing... it doesn't tie into the various lores as well as the first. And the voice acting, oh god, what the actual hell? The actors are performing fine, but they aren't colonial marines, they are the scooby gang from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They took the most annoying character from the first game and gave her a commanding role, they added even more annoying characters, and they collectively suck ALL atmosphere from the game. And the male player marine sounds like he's trying to be Zap Brannigan from Futurama! It doesn't feel Aliens, it feels Buffy, it feels kiddy friendly and soo damned annoying. Especially Piper, what maniac writer and voice director thought that 'gosh I'm such an eccentric and awkward nerd!' trope belonged anywhere near a xenomorph hive! And they don't shut up! And then you have to replay the levels cos there just aren't enough, and listen to them again, and again. What were the devs thinking? I really want to like this game more than I do, I'm still playing it and I have fun in co-op, but it's certainly not the experience I was hoping for, and I'm utterly flabbergasted that it's so much worse than the previous game, and in all the ways people complained about the first game, they made those specific things even more annoying. o.O So... yeah. Shame.
