A Path to the Princess

a puzzle game unlike any i have ever played. the game starts out simple enough, lets you build confidence and gently introduces you to new mechanics one by one. very easy to get into, but is by no means an easy game. the earlier puzzles are easy to work out, stage 11 was the first head scratcher for me, but it became very clear after the 2nd attempt. later puzzles added a few red herrings which caught me unaware at first. it was good though, as i'd gotten to a point where i was maybe a bit overconfident and needed reminding this game requires a bit of brain work. all went well until level 32, which at this time i just cant figure out. lost all my lives to that level twice so far, but he game is fun enough that i wont be letting it beat me that easily (will update review to boast about it when i finally clear it). felt a bit strange controlling the character using the right control stick at first, but over time i come to realise it's better that way. only negatives i see with this game so far is there is no restart level option, i made a mistake on a couple of levels and my only choice was to wait for the time to expire so i could retry. overall it's a fun experience and i will play more often, even if it's just for the pride of not letting myself get beat by level 32, i'm sure i must just be overthinking and the solution is staring me in the face.

This is a quick puzzle game where you have to find the right path in a maze, making sure to have the right number of balls to roll along to make it all the way to the princess at the end. I played this on PC which this isn't really optimized for. The controls are minimal, but buttons are mostly pathed for controller it seems. Easy enough to figure out though. Overall this seems like it would be a good mobile game. In single player mode, which is the only one I played, there are a couple of mechanics that just make it longer. For instance, levels are timed so if you look away for too long you will lose. Also, you only have 3 lives per run so if you lose you must start all over. The game does a good job of leaving you hearts along the way when you have to redo levels so you may end up having many more than 3 lives. The graphics are meh, but given the small number of credits listed that makes sense. There is a soundtrack that I didn't opt to listen to for long. Better to play your own music over it. As for the puzzles, some took 5 or more tries to figure out, but I'd say most I was able to finish first try. I'm not sure how many levels there are as I didn't want to restart from level 1 when I got to level 35+. The puzzle levels appear to be the same so it just comes down to remembering what you did the first time to get past levels you've already done. I bought this game for <$1 so it was definitely worth it. Again, if I had this on mobile I think it would be a good sitting on the toilet kind of game. If puzzles are your thing and you're looking to waste an hour or two, give it a try.

Good concept, but lack of dev funding is painful to watch. Severely lacking in graphics, audio, and UI/UX polish. Also found a few bugs. Theming could use a complete overhaul. Princes standing on a changing stack of beach balls is so bizarre that you might as well go fully abstract. For less than a dollar, it's worth the 15 minutes completion time, but the above problems would prevent me from enjoying a longer experience. Kinda feels like something I'd find on Newgrounds.
