I have enjoyed the game in the past, it was a great concept, I hosted servers in the past, but no longer recommend this game to friends as it's no longer the kind of game advertised when I purchased it during early release. In the lead up to sell the game to another developer and since it was purchased by a larger studio, questionable decisions and concept drift have taken the game away from what got myself and others to buy it while it was in early access. The easiest examples of changes that are leading to this shift I can point to include the following. 1) What was supposed to be an open immersive survival game - In game defenses like blade traps, spike traps, and turrets being nerfed to the point they are a waist of time - Zombie AI reworked to eliminate defensive structures as a viable strategy (not talking about AFK bases and invisible fence blocks... those still exist, but how they tweaked the AI of zombies to periodically ignore their blood lust and work with others taking a break to target specific support structures as apposed to reach you. This lead my friends and I to abandon even trying to build defensive structures like you would expect in a survival situation. 2) Blatant cash grabs such as a) armor sets added to the game, then sets removed so they could be sold as add cosmetic sets b) Out of place cosmetic add-ins that are inconsistent to the game (Holiday hat costumes, Chicket suite, Pirate costume, Hellreaver costume, beachwear, and the like all look out of place and inconsistent with the theme of the game either because they look strangely well laundered, are called armor packs despite only preventing others you are playing with from seeing the armor you are actually wearing as they just hide it, and generally, make characters using them look completely out of place. (and because the player wearing it isn't having to look at it, only everyone else gets the break in immersion) 3) If the game was finished and #1 and #2 were added as optional settings (admins could turn on or off, or in the case of #2, the player could choose to see them or not) to liven up an old game, it would be one thing. However, these were prioritized over finishing the development plan of a game that hasn't finished what was promised despite moving out of early access. Note: At this point, the most effective blood moon strategy is to find something you don't mind gets destroyed to hang out in. a) If you have a lot of ammo - find something that will funnel the zombies to you like being between two buildings with concreate walls so you can burn through the ammo build up (if you min/max your build like they want, you will have ammo to burn and can rinse and repeat between each blood moon, if you don't min/max like they want, you may be short on ammo, see option b below) b) If you don't have much ammo, then find something with a second floor with brick or concreate walls and space to move around, remove any way for zombies to get to the second floor, then run in large circles all night so zombies target different parts of the walls nearest your location until you can get your build min/maxed like the devs want, it will feel like a waist of time doing this and it is, but the best you can do until you get your main weapon stat to max to increase your chances of finding ammo... which is also why I am stepping away from this game in pursuit of better survival/base building games)
Used to enjoy this game. Now its full of AI generated slop and coding. RIP to what was once and enjoyable game.
TLDR, Don't buy this, not unless it's super cheap and because there is a fun mega mod out there you want to play. Been playing for while, seen a lot of updates, some where fun, others not so much. I think they have lost their intent at some point. Base building is what brought me to this game and it's just not fun anymore. - There is not enough diversity in the zombies mechanics to inspire creative design. - Why do all zombies are ingeniers ? Why not only construction builders ? - Why don't the nurse have the possibilite to make you sick when hitting you? Not just infection - The chucks and bees ranger are cool, but not every steps there is one cool. - The forest cool use some random events, a pack of wild angry rabbits ? - mutated rat, seriously that could be horrible and fun - Scripts in pois can be fun, why not had lore ? Some place have power, why not have options to interacts with environnement to start traps or doors ? (Now having hacking or lockpicking skills would be fun) - The skill tree is not fun to use or unblock, some skills are fun to rp, but the game doesn't have the flexibility to be fun for more than one or two playstyle. - Survival is all over the place, is it important or not ? There is no fishing or trapping in the game, not really. Farming is not fun - Not enough information on what you build and logic doesn't help. - How are you suppose to know that a beehouse must have a clear 6 square above it ? I mean, Were we suppose to know the little edge of the shed blocks it ? Why no warning in the beehouse menu that says obstructed above ? Or event better, don't let us place it there. - Dew collector gives off heat.... How are we suppose to know that without a wiki ? -_-, why items don't have a heat indicator ? Why no end game version of the crafting station that do not emit heat ? Why no lead walls ? - Screamers have the potential to be a really fun mechanics, but now they are juste tedious. (ex: 1 sec freeze when hearing it, being completly silent until you see it, make it walk on 4 for sh*t and giggles, that would be creepy). - The weapons are lacking on all front. Animations are boring or super long, almost no diversity, no unique weapons that needs effort to get, no weapon skin either (you could have a skin that unlock when you wear a set for exemple, that would be cool). - Almost no lore T_T . The quest don't have any. - The night quest during whick you start generator, why not make it a no zombie spam zone ? - The DLC are worth 3 $ cad at full price, not 15 $ cad. - Can't change armor color with die - Traps, this game could do with more traps - The habitat could be so much better: low visibility in the forest because of dense foliage, mirages in the desert (poi that disapear when getting close), needing an oasis for water. - It's all about base building, but everything is a huge square, even if it's small.
постоянно вылетает + куча багов
The devs seem to hate the community and can't keep a promise or deadline to save their lives.
Years later and this is still my go to zombie survival game.. It could be better, but it definitely could be worse. Lots of great mods and ways to make the game your own
